Church's Texas Chicken — Restaurant in Slidell

The food is usually hot and miss. I don't understand why that is, but it is. Sometimes the batter is raw right at the meat. The chicken is cooked all the way, accept for one other time. The batter being raw,, not just goey from the sitting as it was explained, but definitely raw batter. It has happen 3 times. Unfortunately I never have been able to speak to the same people twice. I do not know if that is because of high turn over, or just my misfortune. I have been a huge fan of Church's Chicken since childhood, almost 50 years. This particular store has many people who are uncooperative, rude they see you and coming in, standing at the counter and even when there is no one in the drive through, no one else in the store besides my wife and I and the employees, but still ignore us. I have tried to be friendly and in no way impatient or disrespectful. I've introduced myself hoping to end the seemingly intention disrespect. I don't deserve this and I have taken to hardly going in there any more, but like I said, I love Church's Chicken. I love the marinade, the peppers, the poppers, the strawberry soda. Anyway, I am not looking to get anyone in trouble. I just want kinder friendlier service and for them to care about the product and be consistent. Also, the survey asks if we dine in or take out and we do both. Again, it is not as frequent as it has been all these years, but it can still be often. I miss...

*Update 6/24/2025 I had Church’s today for lunch and it was so fresh and the service was AMAZING 🙌🏽 It seems like they got rid of the “ATTITUDES” 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽 Great Job Church’s I will definitely be back🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Had lunch here today 4/22/2025 Very pleasant experience staff were very kind and polite, look like the rude gang does not work there anymore🙌🏽 My only complaint is please CHANGE YOUR GREASE! The Chuchs in New Orleans chicken was a light golden brown, the chicken out here is always dark brown and does not seem fresh, I think it’s because the grease need to be changed!

UPDATE* I went here today for lunch 12/3/2024 and when I tell you they must be under new management because the young lady that took my order was so friendly and polite and the chicken was so fresh and good, biscuit was hot and tasty! Great job Church’s please keep up the good work I will definitely be back!

This place will definitely be closed soon if there is not a new management take over! I don’t even bother to get the chicken anymore, so I ordered the bombers definitely USE to be one of favorites but not anymore they taste HORRIBLE! Not sure if they have a different brand or what but please bring back the old bombers! The ones you have now taste like imitation cheese in a ball of grease!...

And I'm being generous about that star. Church's Chicken used to be our favorite place for chicken. I think today finally ended that. Went to try the new grilled chicken. It's a half chicken, one side order and busciut. First off I understand small chickens but I've seen bigger pigeons. But I could not believe it was a half of a chicken. It only took up half of the small box. The only part that was the breast peice was smaller than my fist and it was split open and so dry I couldn't pull it apart to split it for my two dogs. The edge of all the rest was too dry. I don't know if it was supposed to be bbq sauce but if it was it was like water. They set the buscuit in it and it was all soggy. I myself think it was grease because the outside of the box was coated with it. Very disappointing because we always went there. No body cares anymore I would never serve anybody a peice of chicken that looked like that. I've had plenty of orders that were messed up, which never surprised me but inedible food is not acceptable. We are going to miss it too. Popeyes it will be from now on. What a shame.
