Neutral Ground Bistreaux — Restaurant in Slidell

Settle in for this detailed review! My husband and I tried this place for a very low-key anniversary lunch because we've seen people raving about it on a local group page. We started with chargrilled oysters. They were very good, although there are better places to go for them. Don't get me wrong...they were very good....just wanna give a transparent review for those foodies out there. Our server was the sweetest kid and he was very attentive and we couldn't have asked for anyone better for the setting. The bartender was very accommodating in making my spicy margarita...even though it wasn't on the cocktail menu. (Highly recommend, btw) We got several dishes to try and kind of share. We got the wings! Y'all! Don't sleep on these wings! I'm a wing snob and y'all better make your own ranch....which they do. No Sysco or packet ranch here! We got the BBQ and the Cajun dry rub. Both were excellent! It's been a long time since I had wings that were so juicy...they dripped, not only juice, but pure enjoyment! I swear I don't know these people and they've given me no incentive to write this review(although, I would except a free dinner or gift card 🤣 jj...kinda) I also got the Cajun cobb salad. It was good. Different, but good. Probably won't order it again but they have much better offerings, imo. My husband got a burger. There was nothing left so take that for what u take from it. He also got the peach bread pudding. He's a bread pudding person and said it was very good. Can't wait to go back and try something else. I only gave it a 3 for atmosphere because it's small. I mean, it's a bistro...what u expect. Maybe 10-12 tables? No booths. I hope to see this business grow into somewhere bigger! Keep up the good work! Love what...

My boyfriend and I came from picking flowers in picayune and was craving Nola food on the way home but didn’t wanna drive into the city. We found this lucky gem. Food was A M A Z I N G. Seasoned just right, wasn’t too salty at all. I think people complaining about the price haven’t come to terms to inflation bc the price I woulda paid for this food elsewhere would be the same or more… I love that this place had many photo opportunities attached. I loved my seafood YAKAMEIN, it was filled with shrimps and bits of crabmeat….. I loved that it was filled with more seafood than most places. The oysters were dressed differently that what I was used too but was still good (loved the way they buttered the bread). The croquettes were interesting and different but still good (didn’t need to use the butter/sauce that came with it). My boyfriend loved his pasta. Our waitress Jania (lol idk spelling forgive me) was top tier THAT GIRLL. She was very efficient in greeting us, explaining the menu, and more so keeping herself busy. Not once was she just chillin on her phone, always kept herself busy with either cleaning, making opportunities to connect, or refilling our drinks. She was truly what made the experience here phenomenal. I loved that she wasn’t pushy but still put the effort to explain the menu while trying to upsell. She literally even went above and beyond for a guest who didn’t dine in… she offered him a water cup while he waited and then even offered him a to go cup on his way out…. If I’m ever back in Slidell, I’ll be sure...

This restaurant completely exceeded my expectations! EVERYTHING that my dad and I had was fantastic! Everything is housemade to order!! The oysters were great. Not the best we've ever had, but still great! We also got the redfish birria tacos and they were phenomenal! My dad got the Zay's BBQ Burger which we would rank with the (if not the) best burgers in Slidell. I ordered the steak sandwich and it was absolutely perfection. The best steak sandwich I've had. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and with the perfect housemade chimichurri sauce!! The fries are housemade and are fantastic. For dessert we tried the key lime pie and the peach bread pudding. Both are incredible. I'm not a bread pudding fan but this one is an exception. Everything was incredible and I can't wait to come back and try more of the menu!!! Do not sleep on...
