Main Street Market — Restaurant in Smyrna

While this establishment has the better food in Smyrna for the best price, they definitely lack customer service. I walked up to their window and ordered 3 cheesesteaks, this was on a Sunday at 1 pm, they weren't too busy, I have been here when they have been slammed. They took my phone number and said they would call when the order was ready. I was parked right in front of their window. Waited an hour when at 2 pm I got my order. There were 5 separate call in orders that totaled 11 sandwiches between all 5 separate people, then out came my order. I said something to the lady who passed my order out and left my number for the owner Cathy to give me a call. Cathy called me and said she was sorry that I didn't have the perfect experience, and I said I wasn't looking for the perfect experience, and I expressed that I thought it was kind of unacceptable to wait an hour for a sandwich order and that I understood the orders are made as taken including phone in orders. They had 3 people working, and I told Cathy that I own a food service business with take out and that if I couldn't get more than 13 sandwiches out in an hour that I would be out of business. The point to be made, food is good here but only if you have an hour plus or more to wait for...

Main St Market in Smyrna is quickly becoming a local favorite of mine. On my first visit, I stopped in just before closing and was impressed with how friendly and attentive the service was, even at the end of the day. I tried the wings and a cod sandwich—both had good flavor, though they seemed previously frozen, and the cod was a little chewy. The wings would’ve been perfect if I had asked for them fried hard. Dessert that night was a slice of cake that was absolutely delicious.

Since then, I’ve gone back twice and left just as satisfied. For breakfast Friday morning, I had eggs over easy with home fries and bacon—everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Saturday’s lunch was a massive Italian sub (or “hoagie” as they call it in Delaware) that was so big I couldn’t finish it in one sitting.

Their baked desserts are amazing—my personal favorite is the yellow cake with chocolate icing. Service can be a bit slow at times, but the staff is friendly, the portions are generous, and the food keeps me coming back. Definitely worth a visit if...

We ordered three meals for take out. They said they would call when it was ready. After waiting 30 minutes we went and rang the door bell to check on the order. They said 5-10 more minutes. We waited in the car for 20 more minutes and called and they rudely said we will call when it ready... We waited 10 more minutes and called to cancel the order. Then we got a call a few minutes later saying the order was ready, we explained the situation that we waited over an hour and had already left. Then two hours later they called back saying they've been trying to get a hold of us and that it's been ready and was super rude, I started explaining what happened and they just hung up.
