TLDR: Paid $50 for a custom cake that didn't follow instructions
I called this bakery asking if they did burn cakes. The woman who picked up said they did, and we went into details about the burn cakes they've made, but then I learned they close annually the first 2 weeks of July. July 10 is my boss' birthday, so I was bummed. I later talked with my coworkers and we decided to surprise our boss 2 weeks early, wanting the burn cake.
I went in last Saturday and was told they actually don't do burn cakes. You'd have to provide the burn photo. That wasn't mentioned on the first phone call, implied they did a few of them because they are becoming popular. The young man in front of me that Saturday spoke honestly saying that they only did one, the customer provided the burn photo, and it didn't turn out well.
But he was excited to help me make this cake within their limits and spent about 15 minutes with me going over their cake options in their cake catalog. I asked if they had photos of previous cakes and he said the photos were from the 1980s, but a customer next to me swore they made fabulous cakes.
My boss and his wife love going to Orlando Studios during Halloween, and they loved Harry Potter. Our boss is Slytherin house. We wanted a burn cake to make his cake magical. That's okay, we compromised with a cake that would reflect his happiness at the park.
I wanted the carrot cake to represent them at the park and his Harry Potter house. I told the young man I didn't want characters like Harry on the cake. He said they have drawn the train and castle before and they could draw those along the side of my 2 layered cake.
I told him explicitly: I wanted their photo on the top with piped icing around the edge and nothing else, and I did NOT want those clear sprinkles on top because it looked like freezer ice shards. I told him green snakes, the train, the castle, and any other Harry Potter imagery the baker wanted to draw was fine.
He offered air brushed mermaid scales on the cake side to look like snake scales, as a background for the drawings. That was an awesome suggestion and I was excited to see that! He helped me greatly with verbally designing the cake.
I told him I wanted to edit their photo before I submitted it to him. He said as long as I emailed them before Tuesday (them being closed Sunday and Monday) that would be fine. I did ask if he needed to write these ideas down and he assured me he had it between his 2 notes.
Awesome, this cake sounds like it will be amazing! $50 worthy.
Tuesday comes and I call to confirm they have my emailed photo. The woman who picked up said they didn't receive it (the email was correct, I triple checked). I sent it again, same email address, and over an hour later she calls me to confirm they have it now. But now she can't find my order? I told her the man I spoke with had 2 sets of notes and when she asked I told her the cake was due tomorrow at 11am. She puts me on hold for 2 rounds, then comes back saying she found the notes and the cake will be ready tomorrow by 11am.
The next day I picked up the cake before my shift and the photos attached are what I was given. I did not ask for 2 chunky fondant "snakes". In fact I never mentioned wanting fondant. And there are those freezer frost sprinkles on top that I explicitly said I did not want.
For $50 this was a huge disappointment.
The cake tasted good.
I would recommend going in to buy pre-made baked goods to support local business.
I recommend NOT custom ordering from this bakery since they failed in following any directions and were misleading on what they offer vs what they actually do. Big break in trust with a first time customer.

Read moreMy coworkers and I have gone out of our way by 30+ min to get lunch from here on multiple occasions with online orders. Today I went in there to pick up our online order for over $80 worth of food and desserts, I repeatedly asked them if everything was in the bags they had taped shut and double knotted because I wasn't able to open them. They assured me EVERYTHING was in there more than once even after I questioned them. Get back to my work after sitting in traffic for 40 minutes to not 1 but 5 items missing from our orders including full combo meals and cupcakes and soups that were all included in our meals. Also sandwiches that had specific instructions to not put tomato's or Mayo on, have them. Now we have to go out of our way again to pick up the rest of our orders because of their inability to give them correctly the first time. I will not be coming back to this location until they actually take online orders seriously and make sure to triple check the orders that are coming in before promising the customer all the orders in full. Sad because we really loved this spot & the food is always delicious. We all spend a pretty penny in there every time but this has been the issue the last 2 times we have ordered from them.
I'd like to say the Owner Ryan reached out to my coworker and I immediately and apologized significantly for the mishaps that have occurred and has gone above and beyond to make matters right for us! We hope to continue giving our hard earned money to this local business in the future! I can not say enough how pleased I am with the attention to detail and resolution he has shown...
Read moreI was married on 11/14/14. On this day my cake arrived in the wrong color! I had a 4 tier cake with what was suppose to be accented with a black bow and a brooch in the middle. Instead I received a 4 tier cake with a purple bow and brooch in the middle. They completely dropped the ball and when I contacted the bakery about the issue they were extremely belligerent and completely lacked empathy for me as not only a customer but the actual bride having been brought the wrong color cake on her wedding day.
During my phone conversation with the store (after the cake arrived on my wedding day) every time I tried to speak the lady kept cutting me off and wouldn't allow me to finish my sentences and refused to accept any responsibility in getting the color wrong. I asked her to please allow me to finish speaking before cutting me off but she simply refused to have a professional conversation with me. Also on top of not getting the color correct they also did not send all of the cake we ordered as well as paid for. We also ordered a second top layer that would be held and not touched for us to freeze, needless to say it wasn't delivered at all.
I would not suggest anyone use them for an important event such as a wedding. They are not professional, they have zero customer service skills and will fall...
