This place is way overpriced. Seems like the new owners are trying to get there investment back on the wallets of their customers. Whoever designed the new interior has to have their head examined. Hanging lamps from the s ceiling obstructing the view of the TV's is asinine. $24.00 for 6 Buffalo Wings? $9.00 for a well drink? $24.00 for a medium pizza which in other places would be considered small is outrageous! In my opinion this place hasn't got a chance to survive. Last night a friend and I wanted to watch the first round of the NCAA Basketball playoffs. In a place that can easily hold over a hundred people, there was less than a handful. That should of been our first clue. Two years ago we went down to watch the SDSU game. You couldn't fit a toothpick in that place it was hoping. The pizza was undercooked and I have never spent over $20.00 dollars for 6 wings. The new owners have obviously zero experience in the restaurant and bar business. They are way short on the list of appetizers and the pizza is nothing to write home about. I think because of the location, the new owners can rob their clientele, not so. If you want to cater to the college crowd you have to have incentives for them to want to bring their business to your establishment. No happy hour, limited choices on appetizers and a pizza menu that is so overpriced it's an insult to the customer. I can't tell you how disappointed I am. $108.88 for 3 well drinks, 1 diet Coke, 6 buzz wings and a two topping mini pizza undercooked. Highway robbery. The new owners need to reevaluate their business plan, because the current one is a definite LOSER! DO NOT SPEND YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY IN THIS ESTABLISHMENT! IT'S A LOSE, LOSE LOSER ALL THE WAY AROUND. Who in the hell gave these...
Read moreThere’s NY style thin crust, woodfired “artisanal” style, Detroit, Chicago deep dish, Sicilian, cheap chain style,…just for examples. But how about those pizzas that can’t be categorized so easily? Thicker, tasty crust compared to paper thin NY style but not as thick like Detroit or Chicago. Almost homemade type look? Some familiar types in San Diego that remind of this type would be Mona Lisa’s, Pizza Port, Oggi’s (not a fan), Sardinia’s, Fillipi’s, Borrelli’s… I am always searching for something different. After much research and deliberation I came across Chauncey’s Pizza in Solana Beach. I read reviews, saw some photos and rolled the dice 🎲 I was floored by the quality and taste. I got it delivered down to La Jolla and it was still hot, thank you Uber driver! Sourdough crust was delicious and there was a perfect ratio of everything. I couldn’t decide what I liked more in every bite, the crust, the sauce or the toppings because they all were perfectly balanced andd high quality. At first I was pissed bc they didn’t do half the pizza with only cheese like requested but after tasting the first bite I quickly realized I wouldn’t want to be eating anything else! I was super impressed and thought I’d share a spot that has a different style than most all other pizza places in San Diego....
Read moreAs a local Solana Beach resident I was excited to have this place open. But over 3 visits in 3 weeks each time I showed up there were ZERO “by the slice” options. And each time, even though my disappointed 5 year old boy was with me, the staff did nothing to help out, as in “If you can wait just 8 minutes…..”. Instead it was just this ridiculous “Sorry, no slices available” (BTW today it was 1230 PM on a Saturday so not exactly a surprise they’d have customers). I’ve given up. I’ll go back to just ordering a (cheaper) pizza from Leucadia or Best Pizza that is delivered to my home at a lower price and...
