The szechuan beef is one of our favorites and so is the orange chicken, pork chow mein, Kung pow shrimp, fried rice, hot and sour soup, sesame balls, edamame, were all delicious. We also try one or two new dishes every time we go. Very good prices and always friendly service. We try to stop every time we go to Salinas now. Either on the way there or on the way back. Food is great.
Came back for a possible 20th time now. We try and stop when going from Paso Robles to Salinas. Sesame balls and crab rangoons were awesome. The hot and sour soup was delicious. Szechuan beef was amazing and melted in our mouths. BBQ pork fried rice is so flavorful and full of BBQ pork. We almost devoured a whole order between two of us in one sitting. Sesame chicken was so sweet and tender it was like eating candied honey chicken. So delicious. Prices are still really good. The TV running cartoons to distract kids is a great touch. They've added online ordering so we sometimes order ahead and pickup as we pass through but it's not the same as stopping by and eating in. The extra chili sauces, soy sauce and hot tea complement everything I would say it's worth stopping and enjoying a meal. Portions seem to be on the large side which is great. Service is always super fast and attentive every time...

Original Post: A lot of Chinese restaraunts have dishes that are too salty, too bland, or a mix of both. We stopped by on our way to san antonio lake and we loved it, ordered a ton of different plates with zero complaints against any of the dishes. It was so good we ended up going there again 2 days later for our drive back from camping back to Salinas.
Everything was seasoned just right and nothing was over/under cooked, and its one of the few places that serves battered dishes (like orange chicken) thats still crispy and actually tastes like its named. Imo better than every Chinese restaurant in Salinas. My current top 3 are Golden China in Watsonville, Fortune Garden in Soledad, and Lees Garden in Marina. Hopefully their quality lasts.
Staff were super nice too. Came with a group of 13, 7 being kids, and they accomodated us with a very "welcome to our home, time to eat" vibe you get in most Asian households. They gave a bunch of colorful twirly straws to the kids and turned on a movie for them on the large tv above which helped.
If Im omw south this will definitely be a go to...
Read moreI stopped in Soledad on my way back home to San Luis Obispo and discovered Fortune Garden in that strip mall that's right off the 101. As is so often the case in California strip mall restaurants, the exterior looked nondescript, but don't let it fool you: Fortune Garden is fantastic! The portions are extremely generous and the food tasted so fresh and flavorful. The chow mein was packed with perfected cooked, crisp/tender veggies. The mu-shu pork was also delicious. I didn't order sesame balls, but I saw some at a neighboring table and they looked fabulous. I can't wait to bring my son back to UCSC, so I can stop at Fortune Garden again. This is some of the best Chinese food I've...
