Complete and utter discrimination here. My husband and I are an African American couple who had recently decided to grab lunch at this branch of Hunan along with our 10 month old son. With the parking lot being empty except for 2 other cars we were expecting to find lots of seating options on the inside. Once we came in through the main door the older man at the counter looked perplexed and didn’t greet us at all.( I assume he is the owner) surprisingly a customer on the other side of the dining room door got up and opened the door for us seeing that were carrying a stroller along with our 10 month old. The owner however was still standing and watching.
We asked the owner could we have a table for two and if they had a highchair? And instead of answering he replied, “ We're having line dancing at 4:30 so if you can hurry up and eat you can stay?"
We were a bit confused at what he had just said, we looked around the place which was completely empty except for 2 people there one of which whom had just opened the door for us. I said to the owner, "You know what we will go somewhere else" So we left. I honestly don't see why line dancing would have anything to do with us being able to sit and eat at an establishment that was practically empty with both booth style seating and dinner table style arrangements. Plus there was no room or place we saw for line dancing. Overall, we were unwelcome and unwanted. Definitely not recommending or visiting this...
Read moreMy wife and I dined here about 7pm on a Saturday and it was not crowded. Located in a nondescript shopping strip, it was much nicer inside than hinted at by the exterior. The spring rolls were excellent, light and flaky, among the best we've had; they contained ahrimp and came with an excellent dipping sauce. Egg rolls (vegetarian) were very good. My wife thought her entrée was excellent. My fried rice with beef, shrimp, pork and chicken was good, but it was steamed, sticky rice, not fried. Prices are somewhat higher than most similar Asian restaurants hereabouts but the entrée servings are large. Service was prompt, very friendly, and very courteous--certainly no one ran after us about tips and we did not encounter a cranky old man at the front desk as reported in some older reviews. Although the restrooms were very nice, they do need to do a much better job of cleaning the men's restroom floor--it was...
Read moreThis place used to be the best traditional Chinese restaurant in Solon but not sure what happened lately, perhaps a management change? We ordered take-out for Father’s Day, and most of the food was inedible. When we first called to order the lady picked up the phone said they are not making traditional Chinese food tonight because they are busy. Well, isn't your restaurant’s core business on traditional Chinese food? She later changed her mind when my wife was ready to cancel the order. We ordered five dishes which we have ordered in the past, but all lacked flavor tonight. The sauce that came with the fish tasted like just water with oil. The crispy pork cutlet was so overcooked that it was scorched and jerky-like. Altogether, about $100 and completely wasted. I don’t know what happened to this place, but we will take our business elsewhere after...
