To critique a restaurant is not an easy task. To put one's hard work in the hands of customers must make chef and it's crew on edge to know if they have make your experience a memorable one; or perhaps they have ruined your expectations. In this case, they made my choice of restaurant for that night, after searching for a combination of a dine in and family friendly near my hotel, an excellent one. I don't regret it one bit. We called ahead to make sure they were open, since Google had shown multiple restaurant that were, but weren't and had a table ready for me, lover and 'Tiny Diamond' as I call my 2 year old son. The table was ready when arrived, we took a moment to review the menu and look around. The walls were a deep shade of burgundy, and the decor were mostly beautiful old paintings. Courtney was our waitress, and she was very friendly. We order the crab bisque, because the reviews were claiming to be out of this world, and they were not lying. Chunks of crab made that creamy concoction perfectly dreamy; smooth and oh so flavorful, my palate was in heaven. I chose the German pork chops on a bed of mash potatoes, sauerkraut and brown gravy. Got chicken fingers and fries for the kid and blackened Mahi-mahi with rice for lover. The pork chops were tender and juicy, the combination of sauerkraut and brown gravy was somehow delicious, and the creaminess of the mashed potatoes made an explosion of flavors, I'm still savoring it. The Mahi-mahi was perfectly cooked and so was the rice. The fish was covered with some kind of mix of sauce and peppers and tomatoes; It was like a Fiesta on a plate. Even the chicken fingers and fries was excellent, a dish so simple and yet so many manage to screw it. But not here. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the crispy crust held most of the flavor, that kept my 2 year old asking for more, and that was a win for me. The portions were abundant and the prices were very good. I had no more room otherwise I would have order dessert or coffee, and with that said, I'm confirming that this place has become my favorite down the shore. Courtney was awesome, she kept coming to our table, making sure we were ok, and the service was amazing from other staffers as well, very friendly. I would not only recommend this place, I seriously say you have to stop here. In my book this place deserves more than 5 stars, not only for their excellent food, but also for the exceptional customer service. I would definitely come back here...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Anchorage in Somers Point, and I must say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the fried lobster, which was nothing short of out of this world.
The lobster was cooked to perfection, with succulent meat and a crispy, flavorful coating that left me craving more. What impressed me even further was the generous portion size, as I was pleasantly surprised to receive not just one, but two mouthwatering lobster tails. It was a true seafood lover's dream come true for $35
One of the aspects that sets The Anchorage apart is its variety of sides to accompany the main course. The ability to choose from a range of options allowed me to personalize my meal, enhancing the overall dining experience. The attention to detail and commitment to culinary excellence were evident in every bite.
The ambiance at The Anchorage is second to none. With both outdoor and indoor dining areas, there is something for everyone. I opted for the outdoor seating, which provided a picturesque view overlooking the water. It was the perfect backdrop for a leisurely meal, and the calming atmosphere added an extra touch of enjoyment.
The popularity of The Anchorage is well-deserved. From the moment I arrived, the restaurant was buzzing with energy, and it remained packed throughout my visit. Despite the crowd, the service was prompt, and the staff was attentive and friendly. It's clear that the team at The Anchorage knows how to create a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for their guests.
I was also pleased to find that the pricing at The Anchorage is competitive, offering exceptional value for the quality of food and service provided. It's a testament to their commitment to being a local go-to spot, where patrons can enjoy a memorable dining experience without breaking the bank.
In conclusion, The Anchorage in Somers Point exceeded my expectations in every way. Read moreThe 45 minutes to an hour wait was almost enough to scare me away, now I wish it actually did. Keep in mind, we sat down at 8:45, so it was not even super busy anymore. First, the wait time I was told was over 20 minutes off from what it actually ended up being. Next, after sitting down and putting in drink orders, I waited 20 minutes to even put in my order. I was only given one option if I wanted a soup as my side to my entrée, although there were others that were a $3.50 up-charge. All the food was delivered on time, and the bread was average, but my oyster shots had large pieces of shell in them, and the (up-charged) Manhattan chowder seemed like it was from a can since there was very little resemblance of clam. We ordered the broiled seafood combo, and although everything tasted good, we were given only 1 or 2 of the listed dishes. We ordered it thinking that it was a deal since it was only $25, but instead left hungry. I could have eaten 2 or 3 of those dishes without getting even close to full. Why not increase the price if it means the customers leaving full? We also ordered the margherita pizza, and since we're in NJ we thought that they would at least know what makes a pizza margherita style(fresh tomatoes ALONG WITH MARINARA and FRESH mozzarella), but instead it was just sliced tomatoes with regular pizza cheese smothered on top. Not only did this not taste good, but the water from the tomatoes being under the cheese made all the toppings slide right off. On top of this, the pizza was undercooked and soggy as well as salty. Whatever you do DO NOT GET THE MARGHERITA PIZZA. I wouldn't come back here since I know I would be leaving hungry, but if I was forced to, I would order something with pasta(not like they have anything else) to fill me up along with some of the seafood dishes. Would not recommend, there are so many other better options...
