NEVER EVER WILL RETURN. If I could give them a ZERO I would so DISAPPOINTED. SLOW SERVICE, MEDIOCRE food and HORRIBLE staff. This is our second time stopping by. The sign says “ wait to be seated “ no hosted was anywhere so my husband and I are sitting there as patrons are staring at us like we’re some aliens. Finally a server came and seated us at a table. It took forever for someone to show up. No name, no greeting, not even offering a glass of water. We were asked about alcoholic beverages and if we’re ready to order. We were not informed about any specials or any recommendations were given. We ordered 2 beers and asked for an extra napkin ( it NEVER arrived) so I got one myself from the bar. It took forever for the two beers to arrive so we felt we have to ordered our dinner otherwise we figured if we don’t order we’d be there all night. I got the smaller cup of “ soup of the day” who knows what was in the brown salty water with something that was supposed to be Italian sausage $5 . My dinner was the pine grilled bowl with salmon for $27. The presentation was nicely done but the salmon way overcooked and cold. My husband ordered the cod with a salad. Salad was ok but his fish dinner was a scoop of some gross looking overcooked vegetables with a cod that was COLD with a big scoop of butter on top because it never melted. The most blah looking dinner plate. By looking at it you you’d think it was fish with an ice cream on top that’s how bad the butter on the cold fish looked. The waitress never came back to ask if we need anything so we ended up asking someone else to send the server so we can inform her about the cold food. She arrived with an attitude and said” sorry I don’t cook the food here” really?? We would never guess. No apologies, no manager, no one came to offer something else, the server took the plate and DISAPPEARED. When the bill came ( someone else cashed us out) we presented the 10% coupon from the place we are staying and she took $1.20 off a $ 50 dinner. That’s not 10%. Our entire dinner bill( one cup of soup, one pine grill bowl with salmon, one small house salad and tree blue moon on tap) over $50 and you don’t honor 10% off after serving cold food with no apology?? The bartender apparently is the manager too ( that’s what she said) who has no idea how to calculate 10% off a bill . She kept telling me “ I press the button and that’s what it gives” Maybe go back to school and figure out your buttons. Then some tall large dude with glasses showed up from the kitchen and gets into our face. We paid our bill and left. HORRIBLE WAY to talk to your patrons that keeps you in business. This isn’t at all abut the stupid 10% it’s the way you treat your customers and solve problems. UNTRAINED, RUDE staff who don’t have any skills to address customer service. Very DISAPPOINTED!!!! We want to support local businesses but now I wished we went to one of the chain places. DEAR OWNERS , Train your staff how to deal with issues and talk to customers. Sounds like it’s a family business,...

I am not often generous with praise, but I just can’t help myself. I am traveling and happened to be in Somerset, PA. I had scoped out the local restaurants, and thought I had the best one on my list. I was WRONG. When we got to our hotel, the desk staff handed me a business card with a discount on it. I like discounts, but the restaurant had not made the cut in my research. The staff then went on about how great the place is. When I travel, I take recommendations from locals VERY seriously. So I redid my research on the place.

The menu was good despite the graphics on the website. I decided to make them a centerpiece of my meal plans.

The Pine Grill looks Plain on the outside and that was a misrepresentation. We walked into what came across as e wood-paneled cabin with rustic decor. That was just the first impression.

Starting with the appetizers: We got some onion rings (something I use for comparison from one restaurant to another). I also ordered a house specialty soup, Chicken Gnocchi. Never heard of it but it sounded great on a cool day. I am not usually a salad fan unless it is a bar and I can choose the contents, but it was excellent. Needed cheese and croutons, but still excellent.

Main course? STEAKS and Baked POTATOES! I have had MANY “loaded” potatoes, but I have never gotten bacon “slivers” (not bits, not chunks) on a potation. NUMMMM! Sue got the Ribeye and I got the Strip. Both steaks were not only cooked to perfection, but the marbling, and the just a smidge of fat for flavor. Mine melted in my mouth!

Desert: Pumpkin Ice cream. Simple, Basic, Seasonal. The perfect end to a fantastic meal. Our server, Maddie was a tad inexperienced, but she was attentive.

After the meal, we spoke with the owner, Mark. I told him that the business card/coupon was brilliant! Moreso that the hotel staff had been there and recommended them!

I thought the website needed work and Mark said they are doing a total redesign focused on the food and the interior. I mentioned that I thought the meal needed table bread. He said that was supposed to be offered. Our rookie server had not learned the routine. He gave us rolls to go! Mark said he has owned this place for 38 years. IT SHOWED!

Overall, a fantastic experience. If you are in Somerset? Make this place a...

We have been to this restaurant three times the other two times were wonderful. My family and I went there today as we pulled up to the restaurant. There was two young gentlemen outside that needed a jumpstart. I gladly help them and the jumpstart was not successful so we let the truck continue to run and charge there truck while they went and got new batteries, I went inside with the rest of my family, but I continue to walk in and out of the restaurant to check on the two gentlemen during this time I got a Gatorade from my truck and poured it into a Tumblr and walked back into the restaurant I ordered a mixed drink, which never came, I ordered a pork chop was completely dry and my wife ordered a steak that was over done. I never asked for a discount and also gave a 20% tip as I left the restaurant I spoke with the manager, named Mark about the experience and how I was unsatisfied, with the food and the service and also about not receiving my mixed drink. To my surprise, he got extremely angry in front of other guest to the point where I did not want to make a scene in front of the other guest or lower my personal standards to yell at another individual I decided to leave During our altercation he said the reason he never gave me a drink was because I walked in with my Tumblr with Gatorade, which I told the waitress that it was Gatorade and that I would like a mix drink. I returned home and then decided that I would like to call Mark and explain my situation as I spoke to him on the phone he rushed me off and said I that he has customers in front of him and to give him a call in an hour I do believe this is all a big misunderstanding, but never once was I told not to bring in the Tumblr nor did I even realize what I was doing when I brought the Tumblr it would’ve caused so many unnecessary problems today was over 100° outside I will never go back and I hope that the management staff reads this review and realizes how disappointed and how he made me feel while I was at his establishment Mark the general manager did not act in a professional way, and for this reason, I will never go to this...
