Went for Valentine’s Day dinner - overall, a really great meal!
My first impression was that there was so much more seating than you’d think just walking in from the street. Cute decor, friendly servers.
When we went there was a DJ spinning vinyl, and I really liked his music selections. I’m not sure if this was just for Valentine’s Day but it was a great touch.
For two people, we ordered: A tequila margarita with grasshopper rim A mezcal margarita with grasshopper rim Chicken Enmoladas Cochinita Pibil Chips and Guacamole
The great: The drinks! I thought the cocktails were excellent, and the grasshopper rim is unusual for greater Boston but a delicious and memorable touch The ambiance. Great music! Great decor! The service was professional and quick, and they use those QR code receipts that let you pay on your phone.
The good: The food. The presentation is beautiful and the food was very good. However, as many have said, the portions are surprisingly small for the price on everything we ordered and saw. Additionally, while I thought what we ordered was delicious, I’ve had the same dishes at other local restaurants that were as good or better but cheaper and with larger portions.
Overall, I’d definitely recommend BARRA, but in my opinion it’s better suited for drinks and maybe a light snack than a meal, given the portions and...
Read moreHorrible experience. The server hardly ever checked on us the whole night and it took over 25 mins for us to get our drinks despite there only being 3 tables in the entire place. Then when we go ask for the status of our drinks they are literally just sitting there at the bar watering down and neither the owner, the bartender or the waitress brought them to our table in a reasonable time despite us bringing it to their attention. I understand if it’s a busy night but the place was DEAD. 3 tables max. We even voiced our dissatisfaction to the owner and didn’t even get any apology or sympathy or even a response. And one of the drinks was a bottled pulque that didn’t require crafting. We also ordered a meal only later AFTER a long wait for the waitress to come and tell us the kitchen was closed and they they couldn’t put the order in. No staff member was friendly to us and quite frankly we felt ignored the whole night. The Drinks and food were very basic and as others have mentioned, the place is quite expensive for the portions they serve. As I’ve seen on other reviews, I’m sure the owner will comment on here for me to check the prices ahead of time; news flash that shouldn’t be your response to a complaint. Service was completely mediocre and unprofessional and I wouldn’t recommend anyone coming here while visiting the great...
Read moreAs others have said the food and alcohol selection is pretty great. I mean the mezcals they have on menu are quite phenomenal and different. The mezcal margarita was wonderful and spicy like I asked for. My one complaint was the salt the used for the rim, it was almost too salty which was really jarring.
The food was delicious and quick. Guacamole, nice and creamy. The quesabirria was yummy and the vegetarian tacos were solid.
I think my complaint is the same as everyone else's - pricing. 2 tacos for almost 20 bucks is high. Listen I get the idea of quality ingredients that lead to quality food, but I felt like this pushed a little too far on that idea.
We'll certainly be back because we loved the space and the patio and the drinks, but not as frequently had the pricing been a bit more reasonable.
Love the spot, highly recommend to anyone that wants quality Mexican food that reminds...
