Calabria Mia — Restaurant in Somerville

3/23/2019 This is a follow up to a review from last year. Calabria Mia continues to have much going for it. Food all around is good to very good on occasion. The formerly unbeatable specials have been dispensed with, apparently. The pizza is decent, if unremarkable... crust is on the thick side. They make a very "cheesy" pie here, with not much sauce flavor. Great location on Main St. very convenient for a quick or leisurely lunch. The interior is small but nice, and clean. It's a bit odd because it's an Italian place, but none of the workers are Italian. As for the previously mentioned customer service, some of the employees are just wonderful, and some still seem to have an attitude. I'm still trying to figure these guys out. It's hard to put one's finger on whether it is possible prejudice against caucasians, or they're just wise guys or simply unhappy people. More than 1.5 hours and still waiting for just 2 pizzas to be delivered. Prior to placing the order it said 30 to 40 mins delivery time. The pizzas were ordered directly from Mia's website. Never again! Making dinner now for the guests that were expecting to eat 1 hour ago. Place is a joke!

UPDATE: Took exactly 2 hours to get 2 ice cold pizzas delivered by a smartass guy who told me to order some other place if not satisfied.

Calabria Mia is located in downtown Somerville along the busy West Main Street. They have a warm, romantically lit dining area in addition to a comfortable outdoor dining area if you'd like some fresh air. I tried a slice of plain and a margherita slice. The plain had a crisp base, lots of cheese, and a plain, unremarkable sauce. The margherita was a bit better in the sauce department and featured fresh, juicy, flavorful tomatoes.
