Gong Cha in Davis Square is usually a favorite of mine, but this time, they really dropped the ball. I ordered a Taro Milk Tea with pearls for delivery, and when it arrived—no pearls. Honestly, that’s half the fun of the drink! The pearls are what make bubble tea special, adding that chewy texture to balance the creamy, sweet taro flavor. Without them, it just felt incomplete.

What made it worse was that this was a delivery order. If I were in the store, it would’ve been an easy fix, but when it’s delivered, you’re kind of stuck. I had already paid for the drink, plus the delivery fee and tip, so it’s frustrating when the order isn’t right. You expect everything to be double-checked before it goes out, especially since you don’t have the chance to fix it on the spot.

Don’t get me wrong—Gong Cha’s drinks are usually great, and I’ve never had a problem before. But this experience made me think twice. I didn’t want to go through the hassle of calling the store, explaining the issue, and figuring out if I could even get a replacement or refund. It just left me feeling a little let down.

Very disappointing experience. Had two pearl milk teas delivered via ubereats. The service was great when I called to change one of them to non-dairy option. However, when we received the order, it was unbearable to drink. Both of them was ordered with 70% sugar level. One tasted like there was no sugar at all and the other tasted like 120% sugar level. The pearls felt soggy as if they were in soaked in water for too long. Took one sip, and I was in disbelief, so took another sip just to throw it away. Disgusting experience for $17 worth...
