Cute aesthetic, kind of Cali vibes but in New England. Service was quick and efficient, serving sizes were really generous, none of this tiny little measured scoop business like other large chains. Had the chile verde burrito, if you get cheese the steam it so it’s all schmelty! Also tried the fried shrimp tacos, topped with cabbage and mango salsa, which was fried to order and my personal favorite…. Elote!!! They fire the elote to order too which is rare in my experience. Everything was perfectly seasoned, well cooked and neatly presented. Horchata was good too with $1 refills!!! Went back hours later after an event for some churros which were filled with guava which I’ve never had and they were delicious!! The dessert quesadilla was a miss IMO, Nutella and plantains in a quesadilla! Sounded delicious but the plantains were like gigantic pieces and not sliced how you would a banana, and they also weren’t ripe enough, more of a fried plantain one than a plantano maduro. Read moreAbsolutely delicious shrimp tacos I've had. Even now after few weeks I still crave on how delicious they were. I ordered Tropic style tacos and sadly they were bit shaken up by me on my walk home but they tasted awesome nonetheless. The surf & turf burrito was quite nice as well but definitely I'd be praising about the tacos more and quite pricy too those tacos but its worth every bite :)
I ordered online for take outs but like most restaurants these days the surcharges are there in their menu prices. I tried calling them for phone order to avoid it but alas they didn't pick up. Probably just have to stick to ordering in person to avoid the extra fees for take outs. But honestly its worth it to jump through these hoops as the food is simply amazing. I'm happy they're located so conveniently in Davis Sq as I'll be a regular pretty soon...
Read moreDone with this place. Overcharged the last two times I've been here.
$9.25 burrito on the menu, I noticed $9.45 on my receipt. Fine. I'm not going to turn back and complain over $0.20.
Back today. The menu simply lists all tacos as $3.45 regardless of meat choice. I got rung up for two steak tacos at $3.95 and an al pastor for $3.75 (which is usually the cheapest meat at any taco shop).
I wouldn't mind chipping in $1-2 as a tip, especially to keep a place I like going during a pandemic. But overcharging customers and playing dumb when they ask why (blankly staring at the menu for 10 seconds, gesturing to a higher price that isn't there) is not cool. It's dishonest and insulting.
Tenoch will be my new spot instead. I hope you guys fall a nickel or dime short of rent and are out of Davis. We really don't...
