Ridiculously expensive. We went here after dinner and whew prices are outrageous. Yes itâs homemade, but there is a similar ice cream place in East Brunswick that is cheaper and tastes just the same w same variety. With that being said great ice cream though. Shame on the lady who came in yelled at the girls behind the counter asking for aaa her. Her daughters ice cream had no cookie dough in it (FYI her daughter had a very small cup), she proceeds to say I enjoyed my ice cream and my daughter didnât have any. Sooo why not go in and kindly ask for some pieces of cookie dough. Nope mom of the year award are hers in front of her daughter who allegedly had none. The girls offered a replacement not good enough. She wanted her money back and demanded to speak w a manager. (Mind you itâs a 5 dollar cup of ice cream). Manager again offered replacement âmy daughter is not allowed to eat in the carâ. Her daughter looked like she is 10 more then capable of eating ice cream in a cup in a car. . She did get her money back. Wow she eats and enjoyed her ice cream as did her husband and they didnât do anything about their daughters ice cream as there was no cookie dough. I donât comment on cx in my reviews but if this woman is reading shame on you for you how you treated these employees. Louie vaton bag and all. Itâs ice cream lady, girls wanted to make it right to you. Besides what mom would eat ice cream in front of her daughter as her daughter didnât have any. AND THE WINNER IF MOM OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO THIS WOMAN. FRIDAY...
Read moreThe ice cream was just okay, decent at best. I've had much better homemade ice cream from other places in New Jersey. My 2 biggest issues with this place:
Horrible parking. Their lot only has like 5 parking spots, 1 of which is handicap. And the customer line that forms at the window makes it tough to pull in and out of the spots without hitting customers waiting in line. You're better off parking on the side streets. With the prices this place charges, maybe purchase the empty lot next door for more parking.
The cost. Their prices are very high for both soft serve and hard ice cream. It was around $6.75 for 2 scoops of hard ice cream in a cup. And like $5 and change for 1 scoop in a child's size cup. That's pretty high for homemade ice cream.
The flavors are unique. But again, the ice cream itself was just mediocre tasting. Not enough to justify the prices they're charging. And with the prices they're charging, I hope this proprietor is paying his/her staff very well. The kids behind the counter are working like crazy.
I'd recommend Ice Cream on the 9 on Rt 9 in Howell for some of the best tasting homemade ice cream. I just wish they were closer to the Somerville area instead of in southern...
Read moreNot your typical product review but one that speaks of great service nonetheless. I was out in Somerville walking when I got caught In a terrible downpour, clothes soaked soaked completely through..... The whole nine...... And did I mention, no phone. I desperately needed to call my wife to make sure my car windows were up (I left them down prior to my walk). So as the rain is pouring down I'm running into some local businesses asking if I could use the 'house phone' to make a quick local call. Basically all 3 of my attempts were rejected as it was one reason after the next to not let me make a basic phone call. I stumble into Summerville Ice Cream as a last ditch effort (my fourth attempt at this point) and was met by Janine who gladly passed me a phone. Called my wife and yes, she rolled my windows up I time, disaster averted.......I said to Janine that I was sure the ice cream was fantastic, but the service even better!!! She proceeded to let me try a sample of some dulce de leche ice cream. Yum...... Thanx...
