VERY high price and had a bad experience when given one price over the phone, and when I got there, they more than doubled it. I told the clerk it was listed for $275 and I had talked with the seller the night before and that morning, he said "I know him personally, and he would never ever do that". I said "Maybe he made a mistake". The response was a nasty "He doesn't make mistakes. He's a good friend". If course, the listing had been deleted an hour earlier. Luckily I saved it and had the guys number. I showed the listing to the clerk, and he STILL insisted it wasn't the seller, saying "Do you know how many people walk by our store and try to sell stuff on craigslist the see in the window and say they are us?". After I called the number, the guy said he would call and straighten it out. He called, they spoke for 3 or 4 minutes. Then the guys said "okay. He said $500". After wasting a couple hours, I had been willing to go to $350, but they refused. There NEVER was a mistake. The did a take off on the bait and switch!!! They advertised a price that you had to show up for and than raised it from $275 to 750. The guitar was worth $700 in perfect original condition, but this guitar was detuned so I tuned it to pitch and the action was a mile high, the bridge was missing a marker, the bridge had been sanded down in the past, the guitar had a loose brace. So I was looking at $400 worth of repair work!! So it wasn't worth it and I felt like I had been lied to just to get me in there to overspend on something that wasn't very good to begin with. I guess I should thank them. It was probably not worth the $275 asking price, and definitely not...
Read moreCame here on August 14th for the free evaluation day. I had found the event on Facebook stating they would evaluate up to 6 items at no cost. It was my first time and I was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. A kind gentleman named Lorenzo welcomed us at the door inviting us to have a look around. You can't possibly see everything in one visit. Such a large and unique selection of items from top to bottom, front to back, even my boyfriend loved it heading right to the toy section. Our appraisal also went very well. A very knowledgeable gentleman named Allen not only evaluated our items, he also gave us a backround & history of each item. He was friendly and will definitely keep your interest while doing the appraisal. I highly recommend Elysium Antiques and their appraisal events. You can get lost in this store for hours, there is something for everyone, you can learn about antiques you own and grab lunch at one of the many area eateries. Overall a great...
Read moreThe store has a well curated selection of vintage pieces but the true treasure is in the garage! Ask Denise (who is actually awesome) to take a peek in the back and you won't be disappointed. Make sure to ask if you are searching for something specific, she is very helpful and will make a note to keep an eye out for you if you can't find exactly what you need on the first trip. Looking forward to many treasure hunts at Elysium...
