So this was my worst experience. I can’t believe a professional may cut my hair short because I got the courage to complain politely about earlier service back on April. I went for haircut on 12/19/24 I chose express haircut since I know how to style my curly hair. The only thing I need was a trim for my curly hair because my last cut was with a stylist who is not curly hair specialist. I picked this time Jessa and when she came I explained to her that I had bad experience with my hair coloring which turned orange back in April. I didn’t want to say who was the stylist and politely I said she did a good job with cut and style my hair but not the color. Then Jessa became defensive and told me probably the color changed after two months and I accepted that and didn’t argue to explain it was like that when I left but I had a plane to catch next day in April. Actually the color was not what I wanted and was close to orange with patches and turned orange in one week but I was on a trip overseas. There is a comment for another lady here had the same color I had with the same patches. Jessa then disappeared for a while and showed up next to me coloring another customer’s hair without even telling me. Then she came back and she looked like she didn’t want to cut my hair and I hope I listened so she showed me pictures and explained she will cut it short I told her the pictures is good short but not bad. I was surprised she cut it too short like boy cut which I hate and she said to fix my curls My curls were fine and that was her opinion And she complained that I came at the fourth day of styling my hair. When I called to book my appointment, I explained that and I was told I should be ok as long as my hair is not wet. I was charged $95 but I was told over the phone $75 and she just took no more than 15 minutes I didn’t argue and I gave her tip $25 I always leave good tip even if I don’t like the service so I paid total with products $197 She offered me to come back in a week if something needs to be fixed so I went back the second day because there were a lot to be fixed. Next day I was not welcome she cut more hair to fix the cur when I explained to her that it was too short even shorter than the pictures she showed me she said she was just showing me the style not the length.
The coloring service back on 4/2024 I paid more than $600 and they overcharged me without notification which I will be ok if I like the service or at least have someone will apologize for my experience but not to get defensive and cut my hair short for a revenge or so. I will have my seasonal clients back in January and I will be happy to share that with them when they ask what happened to my hair. I was surprised when I was looking for the owner to complain that she is the owner. I will expect her to be more professional and either she will say she meant that or not the result is I feel so bad from their treatment. I can provide pictures for my hair color right after the treatment and receipts. I wrote this review fairly and I was not going to write it but i couldn’t stop feeling bad that someone who is professional may did this out of spite. I don’t know what I am going to do now I haven’t been out since then I don’t think I may celebrate Christmas with friends I hope this will give you the joy you were looking for. So if you are going there for any service make sure to ask about the service cost before they start, don’t color your hair one day before your trip and don’t dare to complain about bad experience.
Update after the response: I would like to see these pictures because you before we started and before I mentioned the bad experience said I have amazing curls. Back in April I was in long vacation and what happened can’t be changed but I would never mentioned it to you if I knew this would be the result and this is the disrespectful treatment I would receive. Any...
Read more"Not that type of salon" those were the words used by Salon Owner Jessa. Was it "not that type of salon" because of the type of hair my daughter has, which btw is thick, curly and beautiful. Which some people would describe as unruly or "black girl hair". Telling me that you did not factor in the time because that is not what you do is inappropriate and not the client's fault. As part of the consultation this should have been factored into the timing before moving onto the next customer.
I booked a balayage with the extra cost for thick hair (again calling out the differences in cost for ethnic hair), haircut, blowout and curl iron finish. We provided pictures of the style she wanted and came in for a consultation prior to agreeing to the work and price. The stylist suggested that we go with foil coloring and premium highlighter to protect my daughter's hair. Upon my return 3 hrs later I immediately noticed that my daughter had no curl iron finish. Her hair was straighten all the way down to the ends, the hair was very frizzy and the color looked liked orangey highlights starting from the top of her head and not the brown coloring we were expecting. I paid full price for the service and even gave the stylist a 15% tip. I may not have been happy with the results but I also believe in giving people an opportunity to correct a wrong.
Later that evening I decided to call the salon and speak with Jessa to explain to her that my daughter and I were not happy with the outcome of her hair. Jessa said to me that she noticed "my attitude" when I returned to pick up my daughter and concluded that I was not happy. She told me that is why she decided to charge me right away in hopes of avoiding me creating a scene in her establishment. Keep in mind before this appt I had never stepped foot in this establishment. I had never previously spoken to the store owner. Why would the store owner come to this conclusion based on a 2 minute interaction? Could I have been racially profiled? You see I am Latina and my daughter is afro-Latina and although some of you may say, but wait isn't the store owner also Latina? Guess what that didn't stop her from making this assumption and passing judgement on a complete stranger. At this point I just wanted to resolve the issue, because my daughter was my priority, the conversation took another turn when she decided to take the liberty with questioning my parenting and said that my daughter must have been intimidated by me and that is why she did not speak up about the final look. I explained to her that this was my daughter's first experience at a salon getting her hair colored and made up. At her age, she was not confident enough to speak up to an adult and she did what every child should do, tell their parent. After a couple of more words I asked that we focus on the issue on hand which was the reason for my call and she agreed to "mind her own business". We did come to an agreement to have my daughter return 2 days later but there was no attempt to correct the color just a suggestion to wait for my daughter's hair to grow out and eventually it would look like what she wanted with the color starting midway down her hair, the hair remained orangey instead of brown, the frizz was flat ironed out by Jessa but we left without the curl iron finish. Lastly when I pointed out another client's hair on her way out and said that is the look my daughter was looking the reply was "she is Polish and your daughter is not". I purposely do not mention the stylist by name because I don't want to impact anyone's job. We all sometimes make mistakes and hopefully we live and learn. I do mention the Owner's name because as a business owner you have the duty to ensure customer satisfaction by addressing customer complaints and finding solutions that work for all parties without discrimination. Unfortunately it was...
Read moreTo start off me and my friend were extremely nervous to dye our hair. I was going to change my entire hair one to two shades lighter and my friend was getting a partial balayage that was one shade lighter then her actual hair ( we both have dark brown hair). Online I saw how many good reviews it had so I decided to take a chance. When we got there we were introduced with smiling faces which helped us feel better. I had booked an appointment with Lexi who immediately began to dry cut my hair which was exactly how I wanted it. After she began to bleach my hair and after a couple of minutes my she realized the ends of my hair wasn’t changing right. Then I completely realized I had forgotten i had dyed just the ends of my hair black with box dye, that was my mistake. After a couple more minutes she completely fixed the issue which made me feel better and all through the appointment they would ask if I wanted some water, tea, or snack which I loved. Then she began to do my friends hair. As soon as the bleaching was done we went to get toned and that is when it all started going downhill. After letting the toner sit for a couple minutes she began to curl and style my friends hair. While my friend was letting her hair dry Lexi came over to put another shade darker of toner because she thought it was going to be to light. After that she curly styled and once my hair dryed the color looked completely different then what I had asked for. I understand that it will not be the exact same color as the one in the photo but it was a whole different color. It was like a a mustard color with a hint of a brassy color. My friends hair was lighter then what she wanted and was not happy either. Lexi had told us that if we did not like the color we had a 7 day guarantee to come back and get a shade darker. So after I went to pay which was super expensive .My friend and I left but everytime I looked at my reflection I was in complete utter shock so we went back immediately to get a darker toner. When we went back in Lexi was super nice but Jessa (the owner) seemed super annoyed and was giving attitude . After they did a darker toner my friend styled her hair again but I refused because it was an extra $30. This place is extremely overpriced for the work they do, you are better off going somewhere cheaper and better work. They also don’t know that many times when bleaching dark hair it turns orange and they did nothing to fix it. After they did the toner again my hair it was a bit darker but once I got home I realized my hair was basically orange and brown and so was my friends. I really debated going back but why would I go back to a place where they messed up my hair in the first place. Don’t let all the good reviews fool you like...
