My wife and I shared a marvelous dinner here on Halloween. The food was marvelous. The "Magic Sticks" were piping hot, crispy, and delicious -- they definitely were NOT reheated as so often happens with fried apps like this. The Panang Curry (we chose chicken) was tasty and delicious. The Pad Thai (again, chicken) was to die for -- lots of tasty sauce, noodles, and assorted veggies and protein.
The presentation of everything was beautiful. Each dish revealed delicious and surprisingly varied flavors. Our table was by a window, and we enjoyed the evening streetscape. The total dining experience was awesome and we look forward to eating our way through the entire menu.
The restaurant was SLAMMED at 7:00p on a Thursday night. In addition to a full house of dine-in parties, there was a constant flow of take-out and delivery orders. This is a very good sign for a this brand-new addition to Ball Square.
The owner assures me that Blue Elephant will have a wine and beer license soon -- a bottle of crisp white wine was the only thing missing from our excellent meal, and through no fault of the restaurant.
The bottom line is that this is a great restaurant...
Read moreMy partner and I were, unfortunately, very disappointed in our experience on multiple accounts. We ordered the Tom yum soup and Thai red curry, as well as a Gado Gado salad.
The food was okay. The curry was quite good. However the portion was extremely small. I could easily have eaten two of them. However, the soup was extremely watery, with only mushrooms, tofu, and instant ramen rather than the egg noodles the menu claimed (the menu made no mention of mushrooms). No other veggies or anything.
The soup and the curry were received in a reasonable amount of time. However we had to remind our server twice that we were still waiting on the salad. We ended up having it packed to go as it took so long.
When we got the check we found out that we had been charged extra for the rice that came with the curry. The menu clearly states that the curry comes with rice. Upon asking about it we were first told that the dinner curry does not come with rice (but the cheaper lunch meal does?). We were then told by a different person that the rice is not included for free on Saturdays. I have no clue what they were thinking.
Unfortunately we won't ever be back to...
Read moreFinally an amazing thai food restaurant in the area. I'm in love with everything here, from food, service, to the menu design.
Firstly, I ordered the drunken noodles with tofu, panang curry, tom kha, fried roti, thai iced tea, and mango sticky rice. EVEYTHING was a hit! I asked for the level of spice on the drunken noodles to be a 5, and the kitchen delivered. All of the food was flavorful, warm, delicious, and made me want seconds. I would 1000% come back for just the food.
The wait staff here is so attentive as well. My water would be constantly refilled. I dropped an extra fork, and another waiter asked if I needed another one. When the tom kha was brought out with one soup spoon, the waitress noticed that I was sharing with my partner and brought out a 2nd soup spoon. In addition, they were incredibly friendly, checking in with us. My partner also has a nut allergy, which can be tricky with thai food, but the team also made sure that the food was safe to consume for him.
10/10 recommend. Everyone at The Blue Elephant is extremely friendly, and the food was perfect. I will be coming back...
