Rarely does one get to put dishes side by side but one night I had to.
Both were delivered by UberEats but stars obviously do not reflect a delivery service. But I will add a comment @ the end. I never eat a delivery right away fyi.
House V. P Palace. Prices generally leveled out. Something might be a little more or a little less. Except that House of Kebab's model can be like pizza. Toppings over priced (but you don't have to add on any.) H of K. (Chicken) Korma $13.95: + $3.00 to add chicken. P. Palace: Chicken Korma $14.95 The issue is that H of Kebab's had less of the chicken and the sauce wasn't nuanced. Which was true across the base sauces. As an avid viewer of an Indian Restaurant site on YouTube I've watched base sauces made and make them myself.(I've lived in countries & many cities so I do have reference points for restaurants but I'm only comparing Boston & metro west. Green chutney seems to be being replaced with a nice not too sweet semi riata 2021/2022. I placed an order that H of K got at 7:30 important, because the order of additional Basmati was placed early & was akin to sticky short grain rice. It was terrible and I fed it to my dogs. [Photo] Basmati rice is only tricky in getting the grains separate (I make that too. Takes a long time to rinse off the starch) In 51 years I've never had a sub like this. H of K : $2.95 inedible rice P Palace: $1.95 gorgeous more nuanced. Another of discount offers (this one was the norm @$8.00)
*I had to order from two restaurants because UberEats delivered my food to a neighbors basement door which the neighbor found 2 hours later. Uber driver just ignored my comments especially that the photo he sent was not my door. We assumed redelivery but nothing came. Not restaurant's fault but H of K delivery estimate was an hour longer than Punjab P. & ordered at an early enough hour to get Actual Basmati! FYI. We always delay eating the orders were side by side & I'm sitting with both receipts. Thanks...
Read moreTerrible food, slow service, even worse disregard for customer satisfaction.
Just came from a terrible experience at Yak & Yeti. My husband and I love Indian (and Nepali) food, and even cook it well ourselves, so were looking forward to trying Y&Y after it was voted "Best Indian Food" in the Somerville Scout. BIG mistake. We ordered the steamed chicken momos for an appetizer--they took half an hour, and when they came out, they were dry, and the top of the momos was not even fully steamed, so the edges were hard and crunchy. I got the Lamb Palak and my husband the Palak Paneer. When the entrees came, the rice was regular white Uncle Ben's, not basmati at all. The meals themselves tasted so strongly burnt, that we couldn't even eat them. I can't remember the last time I sent a meal back--I hate to do it; it ruins your night out (either prolonging it with lots of hungry waiting for a 2nd choice, or leaving and having to find another restaurant). But this was awful. Even the peshwari naan was too thin, and was like a sweet cracker, rather than soft, foldable, bread. It shattered when I went to tear a piece. We spoke to the ?manager, and he offered to let us order something else, but we were done. Two bites was too much--I couldn't get the terrible taste out of my mouth. Then the bill came--and we were charged for every bit of crappy food! We spoke to the manager again, and he said they "didn't give discounts".
Even the atmosphere was not good. The table was so low, it was at my bellybutton level (and I'm only 5'5"), so if I wanted to lean over to hold my husband's hand (it was date night, after all), I was crouched over. The plate was none too clean, and the music was loud enough to make conversation less-than-intimate.
Just do yourself a favor and stay away. After being forced to pay for an inedible meal, we are notwat home eating...
Read moreFirst of this review is way overdue. But I have so much goodness to say about this place and staff , The House of Kebab deserves a round of applause.
First off Sam is one of the most professional people I have met. I had an event back in March and was looking around for a place that caters Tandoori Chicken and when I found this spot, I called to get details about catering. Sam was extremely helpful with all my questions. I stopped by the restaurant to order a serving to go to try before placing my order. At the restaurant I spoke to Sam again and he answered all my additional questions. When I got home after trying the Tandoori I was like Finalllyyyyyy the Tandoori chicken I was looking for.
The look of the food and how it was delivered was absolutely impeccable. The delivery was right on time. All the guests loved the food and raved about the chicken. The quality of the food cannot be beat, and am saying this with certainty because there was only one spot I remember that had amazing Tandoori chicken and that place closed down years ago.
I had called over 10 other places who serve tandoori chicken to see if they do catering. Those other places, their quality was not the greatest, over priced for the quality/quantity or no one could actually help me with my order. But that was all for a reason so I could find The House of Kebab.
I am so happy I found this place and hands down I will order from this place for all my dinner catering needs. Even the location for dining is beautiful. When I vouch for something Its because, Quality Professionalism and Service is exceptional. Thank you The...
