Iâve given this location more than enough chances, but unfortunately, the consistency of poor service has led me to stop coming altogether. Nearly every time I visit, Iâm left without key items from my orderâwhether itâs sauces, drinks, salad dressing, or the red bell peppers that come with the Cobb Salad. I always emphasize in the drive-thru how important it is to have everything included, and yet time after time, itâs incomplete.
On my most recent visit (6/5), I ordered a Cobb Salad and, again, received none of the accompanying items. Thankfully, I checked before driving off and had to ask the team member to retrieve everything that shouldâve already been in the bag. Itâs frustrating and disappointing, especially when Iâve tried to give constructive feedback in the past. I even once spoke to a team lead directly, and instead of listening, she spent more time defending the store than addressing the issue.
As a former Chick-fil-A employee, I understand the standard this company strives for. Itâs not just about good food. Itâs about attention to detail, service, and ensuring customers leave with complete orders. This Portage location doesnât meet those standards.
Iâve defended this location in the past, telling people to give it time since itâs relatively new. But at this point, after multiple tries and no meaningful improvement, I wonât be returning. The inconvenience outweighs the meal. Iâll stick to the Mishawaka location; theyâve got it down to a science and truly represent what Chick-fil-A service should be.

   Read moreMy order was messed up around 7:30pm on 10/5/21 (Cobb Salad.. chicken was cold, no extra of any thing we mentioned and added what we didn't want chicken nugget meal (for a kid) was cold and fries were scarce) due to a staffing issue they closed at 8pm. I showed up at 8:01 by 8:06 I finished talking with the manager and he stated he could not do nothing until next day. I did not feel like I was priority like Ireland Rd or Mishawaka CFA would make me feel and have made me feel many times (but never any major issues) I just knew I would get my order fixed that day. After I arrived next day my order was fixed (sort of) with minor mistakes. I was given a cookie told sorry for the inconvenience and sent on my way. Management did not handle the issue like I've know CFA to handle it for 20 plus years previous times I vistied. There has to be some major changes and training to the Portage Rd CFA in South Bend IN before I ever return. Many can vouch for me on that!

   Read moreWas looking forward to enjoying a night of chick fil a tonight with their "soft opening/ training" night, was not expecting it to be as busy as they were tonight. helpful hint for this location is to get designated lane like the one on Ireland rd by Lowes to go through the Walmart parking lot. the lines for tonight blocked up traffic at the Walmart stoplight so bad that people were not getting through and stupidly pulling out and waiting in the middle of the stoplight so that would help. also if you're going to do a night like this for training, I would make sure people have signed up/have a confirmation number to eat that night (kind of like a pass)(which we are family to someone who works here so they sent us a link to sign up to enjoy tonight), if you don't have one then you come back when they open. Of course that won't be the case for this one now that they will be open Thursday, but its a recommendation for when they open more new stores. we will try to come back in say maybe a month or so, once the "new" crowd wears off, hopefully then they will have the parking and line...
