Punjabi Rasoi is one of the best places to enjoy authentic Punjabi food in South Bend. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and filled with the rich aroma of spices. The staff are friendly, attentive, and make you feel like a valued guest, always happy to suggest dishes and adjust spice levels to your liking.
The menu offers a great variety for both vegetarians and meat lovers. Favorites include the creamy, flavorful Butter Chicken, rich and perfectly spiced Goat Curry, and the comforting Dal Makhani. Appetizers like Vegetable Samosas and Paneer Pakora are crispy, fresh, and bursting with flavor. If you like something refreshing with your meal, the Mango Lassi is a must-try.
Every dish tastes freshly made and full of authentic Punjabi flavors. The portion sizes are generous, and the spice is balanced so you get flavor without overpowering heat—though you can ask for extra spice if you like it hot.
Overall, Punjabi Rasoi offers great food, warm service, and an authentic dining experience that keeps you coming back for more. Whether you’re dining in or ordering takeout, you can count on a meal that’s delicious and satisfying every time.
WAY BETTER THEN INDIAN...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining here after work last Wednesday, and both the food and service exceeded my expectations! The meal was absolutely delicious—flavorful and expertly prepared. It was also a delight to meet the owners, who shared insights about how some of the meats are cooked. They were incredibly kind and engaging, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Additionally, I indulged in their homemade cake—either chocolate or strawberry, depending on your preference—and it was truly delicious. A helpful tip: since they often include cilantro in their dishes, if you're sensitive to it, just let them know. They were very accommodating and made sure my meals were cilantro-free. Unfortunate for me to have the bad tasting cilantro gene!
The restaurant operates within L Street Kitchen after hours. Don't be surprised when you see signs for both establishments—it's all part of the same friendly environment. I definitely plan to return soon!
Edit: well, I have returned. I ordered carry out this time and was a bit surprised at pickup when they mentioned rice wasn’t included. Make sure...

It bothered me enough that since we didn't eat the unacceptable items, we still had to pay.
It's not like eating everything in sight & then complaining when we get the bill. We voiced genuine concerns as soon as the first 2 entrees arrived. By the time the 3rd arrived, there was no point in complaining any more, since it really didn't matter.
Waitperson talked down to us, which was odd, slightly arrogant and very unprofessional, adding snippets of condescending insults under its breath. Forgot items as well.
Sub-par all around.
Lesson learned, too bad, looking forward to the place. Can't recommend,...
