The General gave me one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had. My wife and I went for lunch. Yes, they were busy, but not unreasonably so. After waiting 30 minutes for our sandwiches, my wife and I noticed another couple get served, which wouldn't have been a big deal except for the fact they they ordered well after we did. I went back to the register and asked for the status of our order. The gentleman went behind a wall to ask where our order was and the chef said it just went out. Then, the fellow who did get our food came by and said, "I think we have your food." I turn to the guy running the register and he looks at me and says, "Sorry." This was lunch and I had 15 minutes before I had to get back to work, and having already waited for 30 minutes, I did the have time to wait for new sandwiches. In the end, there was no offer to correct the situation as well as no offer to get the food and bring it to us. I ended up walking over and awkwardly got the food myself.
I truly want this place to succeed. South Bend desperately needs places like this. That said they won't be around much longer if the service doesn't improve and fast. It is possible to maintain cool and take care of your guests. Please work on it. This review does not come from malice and I will come back. I hope to see a marked improvement when I return and will update this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGood place to grab a coffee and some food and relax or get some work done on your laptop. However, I was not very pleased with the prices. I purchased the Mona sandwich which was over 9 dollars, and while it was tasty, it certainly was not worth 9 dollars. It was a regular sized sandwich. It came with chips, but not very many, and did not come with a drink. All of their sandwiches are priced this high. Their coffee is only slightly cheaper than Starbucks. I was also not very pleased with the staff. They made me feel like I didn't belong there. I stood for a while before someone asked if I they could get something started for me. I could hardly hear the person who took my order when they talked to me. So I felt pretty uncomfortable straight away. They also did not ask if I was eating in or taking out, but I had my laptop so I thought it was obvious that I was eating in. But they handed me my food in a brown bag as if I was taking it to go. They handed everyone's food to them at their tables without saying anything to them. They just plopped the food down and walked away. Overall, not very pleased and I...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThere are dedicated breakfast hours. It would be quite beneficial to your patrons to have this clearly posted on your Google page. It's a college town and you're going to get a lot of visitors that are not familiar with your business, or city. I chose this location to specifically get avocado toast. Upon arrival I'm told I can't get this. Even though I can get a sandwich...with toast...and avocado. I suggest to the employee at the counter that the Google page be updated and got a bit if an eyeroll and definitely got some attitude.
All that aside, I decided to stay since I drove all the way here.
The food and coffee are GREAT.
I would come back, even with the annoyance of not being able to get what I came specifically for.
Also, GPS will probably put you behind the deli. Parking is up front,...
