I had my first horrible experience at Hammer and Quill. We came in with 4 and we were having a hard time figuring out what we wanted. I didn’t want to hold up the server as she looked a bit annoyed already so I ordered the Aperol Spritz. It was terrible. I asked to have it remade bc it wasn’t fizzy at and tasted weirdly sweet. I figured it didn’t have enough Prosecco in it (they actually used blanc de blanc for some reason)? She told me that “there is already a lot of Prosecco in it”. She basically refused to remake it or take it off the bill. I was pretty shocked so I just told her I wasn’t in a drinking mood anyway and left it on the table. Looking back what probably happened is their Blanc de Blanc went flat.

Then my pretzels came out. The pretzels themselves were a little over salted but ok overall. The cheese was a disgusting. It was runny and chunky at the same time. She never came back for our tab so we left the amount in cash for our empty drinks and left. This was severely disappointed as I knew Hammer and Quill for their great cocktails prior to this. Needless to say I will...

Great little place with a great environment. They have cool plans for what they want to do with the place, they have awesome service, they're welcoming, and they're personable people. They're always trying out new recipes, so there's always something awesome and new to try. Plus, if you want to reserve the place for a whole event you can! This will become a regular place for me. I highly recommend them for a great night.

Update: they have actually improved since my last review! They have more drinks, a bigger menu for food, and are constantly becoming faster, more personable, and just... better! When I thought it seemed like a place that was constantly going to scale itself in an upwards direction, I wasn't wrong. And I'm looking forward to seeing what else they're capable of in the future, including catering for events! Not even joking, they...

Great atmosphere and fantastic food! Definitely try the flatbread — it’s a must. I was really looking forward to catching up with a friend, but a few parts of our visit were disappointing. We ordered two espresso martinis that came out almost clear, and when I asked for a little more flavor, I was charged extra. Normally I’d understand if it were for an additional shot, but that wasn’t the case.

The bartender (I didn’t catch his name) seemed distracted and was on his phone quite a bit, making it difficult to order more drinks. Eventually, we had to ask another server to take my friend’s drink and food order because our original waiter wasn’t attentive. I tried getting his attention several times, but he remained...

I came here with a couple of friends and had a nice time. The bartender asked our drink orders right away, but getting them took some time. We also ordered a charcuterie board, and that also took some time to receive. The drinks were good and the artwork in the bathroom was cool. Overall, I had a nice time.

This drink was outstanding! I love fall and fall themed drinks, so this sweet potato, black walnut, and marshmallow combination was phenomenal! Seasonal, nostalgic, and delicious Next time I'm in South Bend, I'm making it a point to stop back.
