If the mom ain’t there, it ain’t worth it.
It seems like all food quality and customer service goes out the door when the mom isn’t present.
The young man needs to understand that arrogance will cost you business. I understand he may be tired, but it does no one good to take it out on the customer. No one wants to feel belittled especially if they’re actively forking over $40 for takeout food for one person.
The food was just sad. This place is like a roller coaster, sometimes it TASTES AMAZING and sometimes it’s tastes really bad.
The Mac and cheese was literally macaroni and cubes of cheese that barely melted into it.
The meat was dry and had no sauce.
Lemonade was good, as always :)
I’m really disappointed mainly due to the service. Food I can get over, not everyday is going to be perfect. But the service is always in your hands. If I can’t send my mama out there knowing she’ll be dealt with pleasantly, I can’t recommend this to anyone.
I probably spent around $700 the last 3 years here, and unfortunately I can’t allow myself to come back in good faith. I probably also recommended this place to 6 other friends who come here once in a while. Going to hold back going forward.
Sucks cuz there ain’t a lot of soul food places out here…young man needs to do better or else he’ll just be driving customers away. Food ain’t cheap, so you can’t act like you running a McDonald’s drive thru.
Response to Owner:
I appreciate the response, I know yall take pride in your business. You have to understand, if a customer has a bad experience, most times they will not address it. Most people don'y enjoy any type of confrontation. Sure you would've made it right, but now every time I return, I would feel awkward. No one wants to feel awkward getting food. If you're arguing with me now over my experience, i wonder how that would've gone had I called.
Also, i referred the Lady as "Mom" because this is a family business, and I don't know her name. Being a "Mom" is one of the biggest honors a lady can be, so I'm not sure what you're trying to infer... If you feel disrespected, it wasn't my intention.
Had you responded with grace, and kindness I would've taken you up on your offer to rectify my experience, but assuming malice on my end seems like you don't have the best of intentions to deal with me with kindness. I don't want to fight you...over food? This is just my review after a few repeated similar events over the past years.
There was no negativity. i was objective about what was wrong. I gave praise where praise was due. I praised your food, lemonade, and the Owner (The "Lady") for being a driving force for success. If you somehow think i made this post with malice for some "personal" reason, then your customer service is truly doomed. I guess it's clear you've (Muhammed) failed training your staff in customer service if this is how you deal with criticism.
This is obviously a burner account. On my main accounts, I have 5 star reviews praising this place that i assume i should take down now??
oh well, i guess this seals it. Off to find another soul food place. Best of luck brother. Take care.
P.s to prove my experience, see photo below from that day, and you tell me if this is your standard. I was trying to be nice and not include the photo to deter others, but you assumed this was personal, so...

I wanted to share some feedback from my recent first-time visit in hopes that it will be helpful for improving both the flavor and service experience. I was initially excited to try your restaurant based on the great reviews, but unfortunately, my experience fell short of expectations.
We ordered the Oxtail meal ($25), which only came with rice. While my husband enjoyed it, I believe the meal would be more balanced and appealing if it included at least one vegetable or side to complement the dish.
I chose the 2-piece whiting meal with mac & cheese and collard greens ($19). Unfortunately, the whiting tasted bland and had a frozen texture rather than fresh. The mac & cheese was heavily seasoned with pepper, which overwhelmed any other flavors, and while the collard greens had a nice texture, they were quite salty and lacked depth of flavor if the salt was removed. On a positive note, the candied yams were enjoyable and helped balance out the saltiness of the greens.
Lastly, the garlic nuggets seemed to be standard frozen nuggets topped with butter, garlic, and parmesan—lacking the homemade or unique quality I was hoping for.
I truly appreciate the effort that goes into running a food establishment and hope this feedback can be helpful as you continue to grow. I believe there’s a lot of potential here, and with a few adjustments, the experience could match the glowing reviews that led me to try it in the first place.

Read moreCharged more then menu was priced food average mac an cheese was dry collards good potato salad to wet. Barbecue chicken is baked chicken with bottled sauce on it after you order. If your from the south stay home cook yourself don't waste your money.
It seems as the owner can't take constructive criticism. Instead of apologizing and trying to make things better he would rather try to insult his customers. Well as he said he is a small family owned business and that he will stay small with his mind set. 53.00 for three dinners and im looking for a freebie i think not. Barbecue chicken is baked on the chicken in the oven not baked chicken with sauce squeezed on it after its cooked and when its order. Potato salad does not drip. And yes i would rather go to the salvation army the food is better. A person does not have to own a restaurant to know good food. I pray GOD will change your mindset and allow you to understand that criticism is away for you to improve your business and not for you to lash out an push your customers away. Customers is what pays the bills the more the better. You take time out to insult those with bad reviews and very rarely do you thank those with good ones. Today lesson is a bad review is nothing but a chance for you to improve and get a better review. GOD bless you, your family and your business. By the way your staff was very nice and professional something they must have learned from...
