Sugarsnap Catering — Restaurant in South Burlington

Sugarsnap was an incredible choice for catering and bar for our wedding weekend. We worked specifically with Kristen Beaver who was hands-down the best possible individual we could have ever hoped for to help coordinate our wedding day. From numerous e-mails and phone calls to accommodating multiple tastings due to my wife’s food allergies, Kristen was the ultimate professional and kept us at ease as we were planning the wedding ourselves from out of state.

Kristen also served as the coordinator and point person for all of our vendors throughout the day and took charge when needed, checking in with us only when necessary. She was kind, flexible, calming, and incredibly organized - leaving us feeling confident even when the weather forecasts changed by the second. It was looking doubtful that we’d be able to have the outdoor wedding ceremony we had always dreamed of, but Kristen suggested we wait out the weather, and sure enough, we were able to get married outside with a beautiful view of Lake Champlain and the Adirondack Mountains in the background.

In spite of all of the weather, Sugarsnap did a fantastic job moving our planned outdoor cocktail hour inside quickly and efficiently, wiped down the chairs several times after each downpour, and even brought in appetizers and drinks to our wedding party when our post-ceremony photo shoot was taking longer than expected. We opted for a family style meal and the food and service were outstanding. We received so many compliments on the food and bar service and guests are still talking about it today. We so wish we could go back and re-experience our day.

There are not enough words to adequately describe how incredible Sugarsnap Catering is. My husband and I are massive foodies and knew when planning our wedding that delicious, unforgettable food was a top priority for us. When we booked our wedding at The Barn at Smugglers' Notch and found out they were the exclusive caterer, this made us nervous, because you never know what you are going to get - but with all the fantastic reviews - we decided to trust and take a leap of faith. From the beginning, they communicated every step of the way. We were particularly impressed at our tasting. While many of our other friends had booked with caterers' who had them trying dishes amongst a sea of other couples "wedding factory" style, Sugarsnap had a completely private and intimate tasting set up for us in a truly beautiful location. The dishes were not only tasty, but they were prepared with local, fresh ingredients and well presented. We were able to provide our feedback in real time and even pick elements that we enjoyed from different dishes to customize dishes for our big day. The day of our wedding, things ran like clockwork and the food honestly tasted even better than we remembered. Guests (including some self proclaimed food snobs) were coming up to us regularly and raving about the food. This is the first time I have ever hired a caterer and the experience was positive plus. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. Working with the Sugarsnap staff to plan the event was amazing. Tessa listened to my suggestions, concerns and menu choices and put together a fantastic menu that met the taste of a very diverse group of 90 plus people. She also asked all the right questions to help clarify many points I had never considered when one is planning to feed 90 people and it is not pot luck! The event was my daughter's wedding reception, held at our house in the country with minimal access to water, electricity or a kitchen. Everything arrived seemingly fresh from the oven even though that oven was 30 miles away! Many guests commented on how delicious everything was including the cauliflower cakes, the lime jalapeno coleslaw and the best cornbread ever! I was completely unaware of the setup and break down and the food was ready to go right on schedule. The staff checked in with me periodically throughout the afternoon and early evening to see if there was anything else I would like them to do and to be sure they were meeting all of my expectations.
