My wife likes their ice cream and I am normally the one that picks it up on my way home whenever she gets a craving, but over the past year or so, I have noticed a few things that should probably be addressed by management.
One pint of ice cream I received had what looked like an animal hair in it. I took the pint back just for one of the teenagers working there to just take it from me and fix a new one. There was no apology or anything, they just took it without saying anything. I don't know if that is something they had an issue with that day or if the staff up there are just that rude. I took the new pint home and then took some time off from visiting this location.
Eventually I was asked to stop back by for a brownie sundae. I specifically asked for no cherry on the sundae because my wife is allergic to them. I told them this and the kid making the sundae put one on it anyway and then shoved it out the window without a top on it. When I said something, they tried to just take the cherry off instead of making a new one. When I said that wouldn't do, they got frustrated and chunked the ice cream in the trash. The replacement wasn't that good either. The brownie was dry and crumbly and there wasn't enough ice cream on it to actually be considered a sundae.
My last complaint is the staff in general. I bet the staff is made up of about 95% of teenagers and it shows. My wife and daughter stopped by to order some ice cream to take home and there weren't very many people around, but there were two teenage boys at the front window talking to two girls behind the window. My wife said that when she stepped up to the window, she was ignored at first for a little bit, but eventually one of the girls gave her a look as if my wife had ruined her night or her potential dating life. My wife ordered, the girl shut the window and came back plopping the ice cream on the ledge, with product dripping all down the sides. She couldn't even be bothered to wipe the cartons off before putting them in the bag. By the time my wife got home, the bag was soaked with chocolate ice cream.
Each time we visit, the staff are more worried about chatting with their friends or joking and playing around in the shop than actually doing their jobs appropriately. How can hygeine, sanitation or money handling actually be taken seriously when everything is a...
Read moreSo me and my boyfriend was in line on April 16,2024 for Bruster's Appreciation Day. We finally got to the front at 8:52 when the cashier said I don't know if you heard what I just told them and I told her I did not. So she said that the system was down and that we could go in the drive thru line and that it would be the same price for the ice cream, the line would be faster, and to let the cashier know that we were in line at the window before 9pm. So I ordered our ice cream which it was a small sugar cone of Oreo cheesecake ice cream, and a small cup of southern banana pudding. When we were given the ice cream they put the oreo cheesecake ice cream in a cup with the wrong cone. I told the young guy what the young lady said at the window about four times. He was like thanks for letting me know so you will get the deal but took off 18% only. I told him again and he was like you got the discount and I did not because both ice creams would have been $2 a piece. The receipt has me paying $4.29 a piece withe the 18% off that ended up being $7.04 plus tax which was .63 and the total being $7.67. After repeating myself that the total was wrong, I left because why tell me to go in the drive thru when I was already in a line at the right time. I will be letting corporate...
Read moreI’m extremely disappointed with the way we were treated at Brewster recently. I’ve been a regular customer here — visiting almost every other day and spending over $15 each time. We’ve given them a lot of business and genuinely enjoyed coming here as a family. Unfortunately, after what happened during our last visit, we won’t be returning.
I was there with my 2-year-old daughter and 3-year-old nephew. Like most small children, they’re curious and playful. My nephew briefly touched the tip jar — he wasn’t grabbing money or causing trouble, just being a child. Out of nowhere, an employee snapped at him very rudely, telling him not to touch it in a tone that was completely uncalled for. It was disrespectful and harsh, especially considering he’s just a 3-year-old kid.
What made it worse was the feeling that we were being treated differently because we’re Indian. It felt discriminatory — like our children weren’t welcome or given the same patience and understanding others might receive.
Kids deserve kindness, not hostility. And loyal customers deserve respect, not judgment. Brewster has clearly lost our trust, and I hope they take a serious look at how they treat families from diverse...
