My family and I had a disastrous experience at Finn McCools and felt we had to leave a review to let others know. We visited in April 2023. We waited in total nearly 90 minutes to get our meal - while we were waiting we could see tables that had come in after us had all been served. Our waitress, who was the only decent part of this experience, was constantly apologetic, and kept trying to get updates from the kitchen about where our order was. Two of our party ended up leaving out of frustration from the long wait and told the waitress to cancel their order. When our food finally came out, our handmade chips were cold and soggy. I politely asked our waitress if any of the meal could be comped due to the disastrous wait time. The waitress checked and said management won't allow anything to be comped. I asked to speak to the manager. The manager this evening came out to spoke to me and I have never been spoken to in such a patronising, rude, and disrespectful way at any establishment. I was told 'What do we expect at a restaurant - food will take 90 minutes'. I was told we were lying about other tables receiving food quicker. When I queried that the quality wasn't what we expected either he responded 'whatever'. When we said we weren't going to pay for our meal, he said he would call the cops on us. He also tried to charge us for the two meals that were cancelled by our party who left. After he left, our waitress looked upset and we got the impression that even the staff weren't happy there. She was extremely apologetic but the manager's behaviour and treatment of us was horrendous. The establishment absolutely doesn't care about a decent dining experience. Any other restaurant would have least comped our drinks for the inconvenience or at the minimum apologised to us for our experience. This manager was rude, and made my daughter cry. I know this a popular establishment but I hope after reading this review people will reconsider supporting other local establishments in the Myrtle Beach area. I will never be taking my family again and as we live round the corner, we have already informed the board of our complex about the way we were treated and that we wouldn't recommend it to any visitors. I hope they get new management soon. A huge thank you to our waitress if...
Read moreWell this was an unexpected, delicious surprise for our whole family. I say unexpected only because of my past experiences with food from Irish pubs. Not that they have been bad, just never great. The food from this Irish pub was exactly that... great! To be honest, I would have gone back even if the food was not great because the service was also fantastic, but the food was homemade Irish food at its best. I ordered takeout, and the bartender took my order over the phone. I had a hard time finding something for myself after ordering the rest of the family's food, yet she patiently steered me (despite clearly having a near full bar based on the background chatter) to some stuffed banana peppers smothered in a housemade red sauce. Highly, highly recommended BTW. The fsh and chips were spot on, battered fresh in Finn McCool's own beer batter, fried up crispy in fresh oil. I say fresh oil because that is one of the issues many Irish pubs have, the oil can taste like it's been around the block too many times. My salad was fresh and enormous. Kids food was good as well. The folks cooking the food clearly take pride in what they serve. The atmosphere (even though I was just picking up takeout) was perfect. The restaurant is tucked back in some trees, making for great dining/drinking on their huge patio. The inside was classic Irish pub done right. A++ in my book, we'll be back everytime we come to Myrtle...
Read moreI only gave it 1 star because my flounder and shrimp were good. It took over an hour just to get our appetizers. They came out 10 minutes apart. The onion rings were good but the chips were a combination of overcooked and barely cooked at all. We sent them back and it was another 15 minutes before we got the replacement. Our poor waiter was working very hard and getting no where. I observed a couple of tables that came in after we placed our order get served before us. Almost an hour and a half we finally got our food. Chicken tenders were great. My flounder and shrimp were good. So were everyone else's. My French fries were soggy and greasy, I couldn't eat them. They forgot my hushpuppies. The tarter sauce was not good at all. Where was management in this whole mess. No where to be seen. No one came by our table to apologize for the extremely long wait for our food. They even had to bring our other pieces of flounder to the table 10 minutes after we were originally served. Apparently wait staff was mixing their drinks themselves... no bartender? No compensation offered for terrible service. Stay as far away from this place as you can. You are better off waiting an hour to an hour and a half to be seated at a busy restaurant that has it's act together. I will never go back there and I hope for your sake you do not go...
