This is a good spot for affordable country cooking with some comfort food options. It's nothing fancy, but there's always friendly staff at this location. Food usually comes out fast and orders are usually correct. It usually draws an older crowd, but families with children do visit often and high chairs are available. There's also sections that can be reserved and one of them has doors that can be closed for private events. Holiday food can be preordered and picked up here. I've gotten a whole turkey and a whole Thanksgiving meal from here before and it worked out pretty well. Picking the food up was a tiny nightmare, but I did get my food and it all worked out. Update 31 Jan 2021: Tried to order over the phone. The service person taking the order was confirming my order and ubruptly asked me to hold right at the last second of completing my order. I waited on hold for 10 minutes before hanging up and calling back. The call was answered by a different person who asked me to hold. I informed this person that I was already on hold for 10 minutes - they did not respond and simply put me back on hold. Although frustrated, I waited on hold for another 3 minutes. I inquired about my previous order and was told I would have to put in my order all over again. I told the service person that I was going to take my business elsewhere at this point - at which they responded with, "Can you hold?" I gave this location a 4 star review originally which was generous as I have had various experiences both good and bad over the years, but the staff is generally friendly with familiar faces who have served me over the years. Today I am updating my review to reflect my service today, which was appalling and inexcusable. I took my business to Le Peep in Sandhills today (Breakfast/Brunch) and had an...

I haven’t been back in close to a year because of my last experience. I didn’t detail that but I’ll detail today/yesterday.
I went through the drive thru and ordered a flounder breakfast. The service was normal and the wait was faster than normal so I tipped generously as I was on my way to work and really appreciated it.
As soon as I hit the next light I checked my bag and noticed my entire order was wrong. I couldn’t turn around because I was on my way to work so I called to alert the manager. (I couldn’t even eat anything in the order because I don’t eat pork.) The manager was clearly unaffected by the tone of his voice. Of course his breakfast and morning wasn’t ruined. He dryly apologized to which I responded “It’s okay- it happens”. He replied “It DOES happen”. His air felt as if I shouldn’t be requesting a refund despite the fact that I’d be hungry the next 10 hours. I told him I couldn’t return but I’d appreciate a refund tomorrow (today).
I went today as indicated and he refunded my meal, without the 4 dollars for my coffee. I hadn’t realized the coffee was that much, but I do recognize the inconvenience it caused yesterday that spilled over into today- having to drive out of my way to be made “whole” except the expense of my TIP, GAS and TIME. The least you can do when you inconvenience someone to this degree is offer a small trinket of appreciation for a customer who did no wrong!
I’m sure someone on the staff enjoyed my fish yesterday. Meanwhile I won’t be returning to ANY Lizards Thicket- as this disregard seems to be a commonly shared theme among them. (SEE ELMWOOD REVIEW)...
Read moreService was great. Here’s my issue, I’m a female using the restroom. Another manager told a male custodian it was okay to enter the bathroom “no one else is in here” didn’t ask if anyone was, I didn’t here who she was talking to and then she immediately left as a man came in and it was just him and I , I then said “I’m in here” he said “I’ll be done in a second” and proceeded to work. I asked for a manager and expected a sincere apology and him to talk to the man and tell him that wasn’t okay because I was shaken up that he would continue to work while I’m in there, the manager gave a half hearted apology and said he’d say something, essentially brushing me off . He then walked to the counter where he found the lady who told the custodian to come in , she blamed me for the whole situation, said I should’ve heard the conversation they were having and spoken up sooner, which I said I didn’t hear, and that my issue was that he stayed in the bathroom once I made my presence known. She never apologized, said I was to blame. Her name tag said OJ. I will never be going back and will see if I can get in touch with a higher up and see if this is normal practice. I was up there to pay, not to be apart of an argument over whether or not one of their workers being in the bathroom with me after I announced myself, was okay or not. Made me more upset to be invalidated than it would’ve to have just...
