So wish I took photos of our food. I’ve eaten here dozens of times since they opened and it had been a few months since my last visit. The server was super nice to start. We both ordered the “sizzling” steak and shrimp fajitas with the street corn. The last time I had the corn it was amazing. Grilled as street corn usually is with just enough of the seasoning and cheese sprinkled and melted on top. That fajitas came out far from sizzling and full of burnt tiny short strips of meat. Onions and peppers burnt to a crisp. Beans and rice were cold. Corn was skewered on top and dripping with what they said was mayonnaise. And covered with the overpowering seasoning so much you could not see the corn. But could see enough it was not grilled. Everything was cold. I had to pay extra for lettuce, tomato to wrap in the tortilla. That tortilla was the only thing that was warm. The worst part is when we complained. First about the street corn it came back with a few char marks the second time and more seasoning. The waitress suddenly just didn’t say anything other than we can’t take food back. When I asked for the manager he was beyond rude. Started shoving the menu in my face telling us that we ordered wrong. This back and forth between the three of us complaining about the quality of the whole meal went on for far too long and was handled so unprofessionally. I doubt this guy, Elly, was even a manager. He said he’d been the manager since they opened. Never asked how he could make it right, apologized, he just wanted to argue. We had to instruct him that the corn which was uneaten besides the one disgusting bite and one of the fajitas to be taken off the bill. I am not cheap. I’ve been there so many times and have always raved about their food. He came back with an updated bill with a discount that was for far less than one of the fajitas. Another pointing out to him the cost of the fajitas he somehow didn’t know the price, but knew the menu so well because WE were the ones that didn’t order right. He took it back and said he’d change it and took my credit card off of the table with him. Charged it before he even showed me the updated bill. But the way it was handled just BLEW ME AWAY. So immature and unprofessional. Never experienced anything like it. I will not...
Read moreI have been to Margaritas numerous times. I also have plenty of restaurant experience and am highly familiar with closing procedures. If customers come in before close, they should not be pushed to leave, that is simply just bad service.
The other night, my friend and I needed a quick bite around 9 pm, we saw Margaritas was open until 10. We were super excited and rushed over. We arrived around 9:15. We were sat immediately, and introduced to our server, Frank. He is a bartender. Immediately Frank told us the kitchen was closing, we needed to put our orders in soon. This was around 9:25 (35 minutes until close). Our food came out quickly, and everything looked good, other than the fact that Frank never rang in my friend’s rice and beans, but it wasn’t an issue since they came out super fast. We were happy with our food and ate quickly. Around 9:45, Frank just DROPPED the check on our table. He never asked if we wanted to split it, never asked if we were even ready for it. I asked him if I could get chips and salsa to go, but he said the chips are all gone, they were closing. What kind of Mexican resturaunt runs out of chips?
When he grabbed my card, I jokingly said “wow you’re really trying to rush us out of here.” He said, “yeah, we close at 10” in a smart and snarky attitude. I just could not believe this.
I still left a 20% tip, because again I have restaurant experience and understand that tips are sometimes the only money the servers make, but I felt super disrespected and angry with Frank at the end of the night. I get it, everyone wants to get out on time, but it is just a known thing that you should NEVER push customers out of a restaurant ever.
I will not be returning to this Margaritas again and I hope they...
Read moreMenu is very similar to Jalepenos down the street, but with a few interesting options for my meat eating friends so we wanted to try it. Opened Thursday, we went on Easter Sunday to avoid crowds. Wasn’t empty but not too many people. Awesome.
Waiter seemed slow, fine ok. We ordered vegetarian fajitas for me with a side of sour cream and a side of mole sauce. My partner ordered burritos al carbon (menu says choose chicken or steak and he chose chicken), add mushrooms on top.
Wait took a while, eventually the waiter came over and asked if I said vegetarian fajitas or steak. I reiterated vegetarian. Food took forever compared to most Mexican restaurants so I’m assuming they messed up my order and had to remake, still took too long even for a remake in my experience.
My food came out fine, instead of mole they brought guacamole but fixed that. My partners order came out with one chicken and one steak (and no mushrooms), he told them he asked for chicken only so they fixed that as well. Once he started eating though he said the chicken one was super dry and the steak was actually better which is rare as he never likes the steak ones.
Based on the timing issues and the amount of things they messed up I will be hesitant to try this place again. Maybe give it a while and give it one last try. But since the menu is so similar to jalapeños and the service there is always impressive (even when they are packed and I order a crazy custom order since I’m vegetarian) they are always quick and correct, probably will keep...
