If I could give 0 stars, I would! My husband and I went to Mary's for lunch on a Friday. We sat down and, between the 2 of us, ordered meatloaf, fried squash, mac and cheese, Lima beans, green beans, and mashed potatoes with gravy with cornbread. What was brought out to us was what could only be described as cold, once-frozen, obviously re-heated planks of something that resembled liver loaf with lukewarm ketchup squirted haphazardly on top of it! It had a sheen of gelatinous goo hardened around the edges of it and when we pushed our forks into it to break off some it didn't even budge without an ample amount of pressure applied! The beans tasted as if they had been dumped out of a can and nuked in a microwave, the mashed potatoes were cold and lumpy with a brown water-style gravy plopped on top. The mac and cheese was scooped into an orange form on the plate and didn't even move when pushed around, it just stayed intact, obviously also nuked. The fried squash was as long as half the plate, cut length wise and fried with absolutely no flavor or seasoning, greasy, and just barely warm. And the cornbread was a stale lump that resembled cardboard. Needless to say we told the waitress (who was very nice, by the way) about it and she told either a manager or the owner, an older Asian man. He didnt ask if we would like something else or apologize for the poor quality of the food, only said, "If you don't like it, you don't have to eat it, it's ok." We won't be going back, and honestly, wonder how this place keeps it's doors open pushing this...
Read moreI've have been eating here since i was a kid. I am very happy for the lovely couple that owns the establishment, it has done well enough for them to move from the old building across the road that sat maybe 20 people to build their own floor plan adjacent to to older smaller complex. I personally think the food is fantastic. They have one of the best 3 burgers in Rock Hill. THE PRICES ARE GREAT AS IS THE AMOUNT OF FOOD YOU RECEIVE. I never leave short of being miserably full. The service is is fast and helpful. I've never gone without and never had anything to complain about (they did forget the chili on my burger once but the girl offered to take it back to the kitchen and put it on there but i told her not to worry about it, she scratched the chili off of my ticket. the next time i came in i sat in another waitresses section. the waitress from my previous visit found out what i was getting and threw some chili on it for free!) they offer sever types of food (again all at a great price) and its all good. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MARY'S CAFE TO ANYONE IN THE...
Read moreAre you kidding me???? The people that wrote those reviews must be 100 years old and used to institutional foods!!!!! My Chicken fried steak was as big as silver dollar and fell apart like mush! The potatoes were clearly out of a box,. No flavor or seasonings,. The corn ,. Out of a can, and the green beans the same. The gravy was ..... I don't know... It didn't belong on CFS ... It was like a meat red-eye gravy.. but no taste... And then my husband ordered the pot roast with a roll...... Bahaha.. the picture showed what you would think you would get.. a couple potatoes,. A couple carrots.. and roast. NO, NO. This was three slices of roast, ( each about as big as a small pack of gum.. ) in some gravy.. I had to laugh... He ate it as a snack, and then went over to cook out.. . We will NEVER,. Be Back To MARY'S. Institutional, lunch room...
