I'm usually never one to write a poor review given the status quo and continuing struggle that many in the restaurant industry are experiencing. However, unfortunately I was compelled to write this review given the slow service and quality. First, please please update your hours online (Google and Website) to reflect new operating hours. I arrived at 11:40am only to find out that the hours have changed - who opens at 12 noon on a Saturday during peak summer beach season?? Despite my dismay, I waited 20 minutes for Massey's to open and took a short detour to Food Lion in the same shopping center. I was the first customer in the door for dine-in and I ordered what I thought would be a fairly quick and basic order - the 8" personal pizza lunch special with fountain drink and mozzarella sticks. Again, I was let down when I had to wait almost 30 minutes for a very basic dine-in order!? I would hate to imagine the average wait time for delivery during peak evening hours. FYI... they were not busy at all with only 2-3 customers walking in after my order had been placed. The pizza was almost identical in my mind to Donatos pizza (large national franchise system), which is much cheaper and faster - both delivery and carryout. Given the time and preparation, the pizza was fine, but nothing special and certainly not worth the wait. The mozzarella sticks were just garden variety that you can buy from your local frozen food aisle at any grocery store.

I'm giving Massey's 1 star because the atmosphere and cleanliness of the restaurant deserves some recognition. However, I would never dine there again given the long wait I experienced with being the first dine-in order of the day. Opening late and then waiting another 30 mins. for very basic fast casual pizza is just not acceptable and very disappointing. The pizza was decent quality and had pretty good flavor - another reason why deserves 1 star, but I would not recommend Massey's to my friends in the...

Very disappointing how rudely I was treated there during vacation recently, and after looking, I realized it was directly by both Rod and Amy, the franchise owners!

Hopefully just a bad night for them, but I was dressed down for coming around to the area on the side where the to-go orders were all stacked to pick up my prepaid order. They must have a lot of nasty customers and proactively chose to treat us accordingly. The poor girl at the front had a line out the door waiting to order. I thought I was doing the right thing, as the person on the side (owner) was handing out pizza orders when we were there earlier in the evening to order (no online ordering available and couldn’t call—they ignored the phone ringing the entire time we were there). I was instructed I had to be patient, that “everyone has their own job,” and that they were not “frontline”—though that was not the case 30 minutes prior. No signs; just supposed to know this, I guess!

I understand the staffing issues—we are all dealing. But being rude to customers who aren’t even being confrontational—I was just standing there waiting!—out of the gate is not cool. Have been coming for over a decade, and love the pizza. Stinks to have had this happen though.

If I’m in OH, I’d go to a Massey’s there, but doubt I’ll continue this one as a vacation tradition. If they continue down this path, they will run off the remaining...

Hrs. 12-8pm. Arrived at 2. Paid $40 3 adult buffet. Salad was fine. Pizza wasn’t. It obviously was sitting under light since open. I kindly asked if they’d make us one 12 inch (the size on buffet) with the three kinds we liked (veggie, pepperoni and cheese). We would definitely eat all of it. Owner said No!? I was honestly unhappy with a no. Disappointing for price. And it’s a fair expectation if you take our order and payment, we should expect fresh food during posted business hours. After I explained I was going to write a review stating what happened she still said No. When I spoke to her personally (she came out when we were leaving) she then offered to make us something but it was too late & we were ready to go. My son said she was too aggressive leaning over counter twd me. Workers were friendly. Place was a little untidy for being slow. It is their off-season to be fair. Bathrooms were clean.

So, should she make one pizza to make our experience great or should we deal with old buffet food for $40? I was only asking for what we would eat. Well you decide. I’ve been coming to this area and for past 18 years food has been acceptable. Honestly, I didn’t like her logic, nor the way I was treated (she was pretty defensive with a hard no).

I’m pretty sure one 12 inch pie would’ve changed the experience.

We just wanted some hot fresh pizza. Ugh. After all...

One good thing about Columbus, Ohio is Massey's pizza. Love having one here in South Carolina. There is no better pizza anywhere! Tonight I tried the Hawaiian for the first time. It was pretty good. Not sure anything can beat their pepperoni pizza. We have tried quite a few pizza places around and haven't found anything else we like. Once we realized there was a Massey's (even if it's a good half hour or more drive from our house) we were ecstatic. I loved Massey's in Columbus, and this is the same chain. It tastes just as good as Columbus too! The only bad thing is I am not impressed with their dessert pizza. We have gotten the cinnamon pizza two different times now and it just wasn't good. Guess you can't always have your cake and eat it too. Still love the pizza, just have to remember to skip dessert or find it elsewhere next time.

We found the tomato sauce bland and lacking zest or spice. The cheese is over cooked, which may be a style of the particular type of pizza they are trying to do. This is St Louis style pizza, crispy cracker thin crust... which isn't my favorite. The Godfather pizza is the only deep dish offers on the menu, but looks promising. They don't ask you what kind of crust you'd like leaving me to believe this is the standard. Atmosphere and people are nice. A lunch buffet is offered that includes salad, but the pizza didn't look all that good, though I came in at the end of a slow lunch day.
