Your typical “if I could give this place no stars I would” review. In short, don’t eat here, but if you want to know why read on...
On our way out of town we decided to stop in for brunch/breakfast/disaster... whatever you’d like to call it. Upon arrival we were not greeted, spoken to, or acknowledged for, at least, 7-8 minutes. When we were taken to a table we were told our server would be right there and apparently that meant 15 minutes. We ordered non-alcoholic beverages (water, coffee, tea) and it took 10 minutes for those to get to us too. After making our server wait to leave the table we quickly ordered what seemed to be a pretty simple meal (biscuits and gravy, kids pancake, Texans Benedict). Sadly, we never received any of our food even after waiting for OVER ONE HOUR, FOR BREAKFAST FOOD, EGGS AND GRAVY, AND A PANCAKE.
In the hour we were there we (my husband, who is also a General Manager and myself) watched 1 table complain that they hadn’t even had a server to come to their table and one complain they hadn’t gotten their food despite waiting over an hour (and 30 minutes for Bloody Mary’s) when he talked to the manager the GM made a face at the guy like he was stupid and assured him his food would be out soon.
At this point I was annoyed, but making the excuse that times are weird and they just really didn’t have it together. I’m normally full of grace when it comes to restaurants because of previously working in them and it being my husband’s job. We ended up calling another restaurant while waiting and asked what the wait was and left cash on the table for our drinks.
This was not our servers fault, but simply poor management. Obviously from previous replies from the “owner” who I’m assuming is John, the GM, he is NOT FRIENDLY NOR SHOULD BE RUNNING A RESTAURANT because this was a dumpster fire sitting right in front of us and the previous replies from him on other reviews are very rude and all of the tell the person to not come back to the restaurant... how is this okay for any...
Read moreSOHO NORTH IS A MUST GO, especially for Breakfast/Brunch! Do NOT listen to any of the bad reviews! This location is relatively new and opened right in the middle of the COVID madness so I'm sure they had a lot to work through and somehow still produced one of the nicest places we've seen! My fiance' and I LOVE the SOHO South location and we were SO excited to see they opened one closer to us at SOHO North! I literally cannot say ONE bad thing about our experience. From the manager Seth showing us around and giving us a comfortable and quiet spot to enjoy our meal, from Cat our server who was very nice and got us everything we needed the whole time to the PHENOMENAL food that Chef Tyson provided, we will be going back OFTEN. It is by far our new favorite restaurant in the region! Nothing is overlooked in this beautiful location on the water that will be a very nice night spot for us to hang out as well. The building may look small out front, but it's HUGE out back with multiple levels including a waterfront tiki bar, a live music spot, a Chop House/Italian restaurant with a top chef and ample seating all around inside and out. They even have a little koi pond and will be adding an oyster bar and will eventually have a dock for boats to pull up to. We ordered the Louisiana Shrimp Omelet and the Chicken and Waffles (see photos) which are even better tasting than they look which we never thought would be possible! We worked in the restaurant industry for most of our lives so we are pretty picky when we go out to eat and expect great food and service which we more than received! Chef Tyson stuffs the omelet with plenty of shrimp and uses a high quality dark meat for the fried chicken which were both out of this world. I cannot recommend this place enough! Please go for breakfast, lunch and dinner, you will not be disappointed! We are going to make this a regular spot of ours and cannot wait to try more and more off the menu! Thank you so much, Seth and Tyson for making our meal and...
Read moreAugust 2023 We have ventured back to Soho several times now to give them more chances to get it right. So far it has been hit or miss. Some days/nights we have had good service, food and drinks. It has been about 50/50. Last week, not so much. Service was good. Our waiter did a good job, except we had a bit of miscommunication. I have never ordered sushi before and received sushi rolls instead of a slice of fish on top of rice. The manager did replace the rolls with what she called sashimi sushi (slice of fish on rice). We have been to many sushi restaurants and have never had any say that sushi is a sushi roll. Sashimi is just the fish, and sushi is the fish slice on rice. Rolls are rolls. My wife's first drink had a fruit fly in it. It happens. You could say sorry, and if you want your customers to overlook the experience and come back, remake the drink and take it off the bill.
So if you like to gamble roll the dice and see what you get. 2022 Unfortunately we were never able to try the food, and I need to echo some of the negative comments that I have read. The good - the place looks great. Wish I could put more on this list. The bad - we were seated at a table near the bar. It was very noisy inside. We sat there for 10 minutes and no servers came by. We decided to try the outside seating. I asked the hostess to move us, which she did. Again we sat there waiting on service for 10 minutes. I had to flag down a bartender who finally came over and seemed surprised no one had gotten us drinks or taken our order. We asked for a drink menu which she retrieved for us. After waiting another 5 -10 minutes we had reached out limit. On the way out the door I was able to stop the manager and tell him what we had been through. He did offer to reseat us, and try to help us enjoy our dinner, but by this point that was not going to happen. Unless I read a lot of new reviews saying they have fixed the issues we...
