Disappointed Experience – Room for Major Improvement
I genuinely want Toasty to succeed in Myrtle Beach, but my recent visit left a lot to be desired. It’s clear they’ve modeled themselves after Blueberry Grill—a local favorite—but unfortunately, they haven’t quite matched the quality or overall experience.
First, for a breakfast-focused spot, opening at 8am is just too late. Blueberry Grill opens at 6:30am, and even 7am would be a step in the right direction for early risers, professionals, or anyone looking for a proper breakfast start.
We arrived right at 8am and were immediately taken to arguably the worst table in the restaurant—tucked away in an isolated corner, despite the place being completely empty. We were three grown men meeting for a business discussion, yet for some reason the hostess placed us at a cramped, dingy table surrounded by flies. Yes, flies—indoors—circling directly around us as we sat down. On top of that, she opened the blinds, which sent blinding sunlight straight into our faces.
We politely moved to a more suitable open section (which, again, was totally available), but this situation highlights a lack of training in basic hospitality and customer awareness. Indoor fly problems are a serious issue—unsanitary and unacceptable for any dining establishment. I highly encourage the management to address this immediately.
As for service, our server was generally pleasant but seemed eager to move us along, even though the restaurant had just opened. At one point, he even inserted himself into a private conversation we were having—not rude, but definitely unprofessional and unnecessary.
To be fair, the food was okay, and I’ve previously recommended Toasty to friends and family. But after this visit, I understand why the Google rating hovers around 4.2—there are operational kinks that need to be worked out.
To the owners and managers: I recognize how tough it is to find and retain great staff in today’s market. But your guests can tell the difference between trained professionals and those simply going through the motions. Invest in better training, raise your service standards, and address the environmental cleanliness of the space.
Toasty has potential—but right now, it’s not...
Read moreWell, I’ll start thing off by saying this was the worst place I’ve ever eaten. I ordered some overpriced cinnamon bun thing that was extremely disappointing. It tasted like something I could have made from ingredients I found in a seven eleven. Our waitress was non existent. She came around once and looked at us and left. But don’t get me started on before I even received my meal. I was asked THREE times by some untrained and unprofessional individuals if what they had was what I ordered, which it was not. I ate here with my friend and the one guy comes around with an enormous tray of food which could probably served 8 and then was asked if that was our order. I ordered a chocolate milk and it was disappointing to see that it was made from chocolate syrup. It was also hard to communicate to these poorly trained employees because they all spoke spanish with a very hard to understand accent. I would say that this restaurant, if that’s what you’d want to call it is not family friendly and they will not be getting my service EVER again. I wish I could have given a zero star review but that’s unfortunately not possible. Wow. I am truly astonished that owner just lied to his customers. I am a college student who visited Myrtle Beach with some of my friends from May 11th-18th. I have lived in Pennsylvania my whole life. I am disgusted that the OWNER just said "This is a fictional review posted by a past disgruntled employee". This is just more of a reason to not go to this disgusting unprofessional restaurant. and to the owner, although you know I've never worked there, you can view what actually happened during my meal on your security camera footage. I was with one other person, on Saturday May 17th at around 11:00 am. You are the definition of what you should not do as a business owner. I want to let everyone reading my review that this is 100% an honest review. I was simply just going out with my friend to breakfast. I am not...
Read moreI’ve never actually been inclined to leave a review for a place before visiting here. Fiancé & I showed up around 10:30 AM. Seeing quite a few people walk in before us, we were a bit worried about having a good spot. Nevertheless, we were delightfully greeted by the hostess and ushered to our seats almost immediately. Those folks were all part of a larger party, luckily. We saw several other parties come in after us and be seated around us while they received their drink and food orders, all the while we sat there for over 15 minutes and hadn’t been interacted with a single time. We stopped a waitress and explained our situation to her. She was very kind and took our order, and said that even though she’s not the one assigned to us she would ensure the order was pushed through and that someone would be here to talk to us. Another 15 minutes would pass and we still hadn’t received anything yet. I said to myself that in 5 minutes if we didn’t receive even water then we were going to leave. About 45 seconds later our food was delivered, without our drinks, by a different individual. A manager making her rounds came by a few minutes later asking for feedback and we explained everything to her. I ordered the steak and eggs. Eggs were decent, steak was alright, toast was amazing. Maybe I was disillusioned because of my discontent from everything so far. My fiancé had the French toast and eggs- it was AMAZING. I should’ve gone with that lol. I’m available for any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out and I’d be more than happy to discuss my experience. Thank you.
