Just visited. This is the first brewery I've ever visited that I didn't try any of their beers....which is why I came here. ☹️. (no pale ales, no stouts, no Porter's, no IPA's...etc...) The only house beers were a pilsner, a golden ale, and a brown ale. The draft menu (photo attached) has 4 house beers listed, 1 is a duplicate...3 house beers????! The next section has "guest taps" the first 2 are the same beers that are listed as "house brews". Did anyone proof read the menu? After I pointed this out to the bar tender and was told to go look at the board....I just ordered a guest flight and hit the road. I've never seen a brewery have 16 drafts and only 3 if them being their beers. I went around the corner to the Mexican restaurant and got a 32oz Wicked Weed Pernicious for $5.25...... I hate to leave a bad review but it is what it is... Edit: Got a quick reply for them which is awesome!!! This shows an active and concerned business owner. They said they are a brew pub, if this is the case then edit your listing from brewery, problem solved....as of right now it shows a brewery. Still...why are there menu issues???? The same beers listed house menus and guest and in duplicate??? Make sure you have people proof read these items. Not trying to bash, hope you all grow and exceed your expectations.

I recently stopped by Southern Hops Brewing Company in Florence, SC, during my travels, and as always, it didn’t disappoint. I had the Smokehouse Burger with a side of mac and cheese. The burger was packed with flavor, and the mac and cheese tasted just like a homemade recipe my wife’s family makes—a definite comfort food win. I also had two flights of beer. The first flight included: Waccamaw: A smooth, easy-drinking beer that’s perfect for relaxing. Sunset Summer: This one had a unique citrus profile I couldn’t quite pin down but was refreshing. Winter Warmer: It started sweet, but the flavors grew on me with each sip. O’ Jack Jack: A subtle pumpkin ale with a red ale vibe—really nice for the season. The second flight included: Pop’s Pilsner: An easy-drinking pilsner with a classic malt taste. Leeroy Brown: Strong toasted malt flavors made this one stand out. Goldilocks: A simple blonde ale and one of my favorites—balanced and light. Citrus Coast: A candy lemon-citrus flavor that was fun and bright. There’s always a beer for everyone here. The staff is friendly, the service is great, and the atmosphere is perfect for a casual meal and drinks. Compliments to the brewers and the chef—Southern Hops is a must-stop for me on my trips between New Jersey and Florida.

Some of the best beers are served up at this brewery. It was at a convenient location for us to stop at mid-day. We appreciated the early opening time. We walked in and found a taproom/restaurant that was very clean and well maintained. The decor was modern and inviting. Danny greeted us at the door and he couldn't have been nicer. He was our bartender too and was very accommodating to our tastes. There was a really great selection of different styles of beer and we picked what we wanted for a flight and took up Danny's suggestions for the next one. All the beers were very good or better. The most amazing ones were the Beach Peach Wheat Ale and Green Strings Märzen. We also met the owner who delighted us with the story of the brewery itself and informative facts about craft beer in SC. Between the bartender, Danny, and the owner, the folks at Southern Hops were warm and friendly and made us feel welcome. We came to try the beer and didn't try the food. Maybe next time we will come for a meal too. We would like to visit again soon and try more of the great tasting brews.

This experience was all over the place. The host was fine and placed us quickly. Our server came and got our drink orders, none of which were beer, so I can't comment on any of those. They were out of the bacon vodka for the bloody Mary, can't help that but I was a little disappointed. Got it without that and it tasted fine anyways. One friend had a margarita that was mostly tequila, which didn't match up with mine or the other friends mixed drinks. It's not a terrible start and we were still pretty happy to just be hanging out. The appetizer we ordered came with the main food after a pretty solid wait time. The inconsistency is getting kind of weird, because the 2 soft pretzels were completely different shades of brown. Was told they were out of pretzel buns for the burger I was looking at. Again, not much to be helped, but I move onto a pizza instead and thought it was just kind of ok. One friend got the grits with shrimp and sausage and was just really unimpressed. This poor server, it's really not his fault, and we know that. He asked if she wanted something else right off the get go, which was super nice. She took him up on the offer to get a sandwich, because surprise, they were out of the chili she wanted. We can't help that, and neither can the server, but it was kind of weird that so many things were just missing from the menu. We took the remainders as leftovers and her sandwich was to-go. She ate half later on in the night, and an hour later ended up with a pretty bad case of food poisoning. It wasn't mayo or cheese because there was none in her cold sandwich, so it was either the meat or veggies. Figured the owner could use a heads up on that department, to maybe take a look at how things are prepared? Good luck to your business during covid, I know it's...

This review is for the Florence location. Sat at the bar and the bartender Sarah H. was busy talking and did not acknowledge us for several minutes. By then we had already went and got our own menus. Once she asked what we wanted to drink, we ordered sweet tea and that took awhile to receive. We ordered a small pizza and a chicken salad club sandwich with chips. The man next to us at the bar ordered a small pizza after we ordered. His pizza arrived in 15 minutes. Our pizza and cold pre made chicken salad did not arrive yet and it had been 30 minutes. I asked her to check on our order which she did and brought it out a few minutes later. The bacon on the sandwich was cold and rubbery. The pizza was luke warm but not hot. No apology from bartender and she never asked how our food was. The pizza had a good flavor but chicken salad club was not good. The disappointing part was the customers who sat at tables after we had ordered all got their food before us. Sarah H. needs to pay better attention to all her customers at the bar, not just her regulars. The man sitting next to us who got his pizza in 15 minutes while we waited for 30 minutes even commented to us that it was ridiculous that our pizza didn't come out when his did and why did it take so long. Also waited awhile for sweet tea refills. Not impressed with the service at all. This review is over 3 weeks old and no reply from Southern hops. It appears they only comment on good reviews.
