Classic Greek food. However, the prices have most definitely gone up post co vid. For example, I ordered their Greek sample platter. They advertise it online at 9.99. My expectation was that what the price was going to be. So, o went in planning to pay that amount, when the appetizer is asuch as a meal. That's a bot of a shock. Would it be too much to ask them to lower it 2 bucks to 10.99. I mean or cut back on the serving? Ot wasn't what I expected for Zorbas. It was OK, but not 13 OK. I could have ordered an entree for that. The server was also really nice til she found out she got 15%. My thing is this. I leave 20 percent or better if you go above and beyond expectation. But don't expect more or make me feel., like OK it's automatically expected. She was nice til she got the tip. Then it seemed like oh that's it? 2.20 on a 13. Bill for 1 person. The tip culture these days is getting out of control. Not my typical experience at Zorbas for a server who claimed to be there for 10 đ years plus. Oh, and I like my dolmas room temp and they were cold, so I ended up taking them home. After I got home I put them at room temp, they didn't taste right. I threw half of them away. I get resteraunts want to mk đ” money, but there has to be a precipice to where these price hiked hv to stop. I'm not going to the Greek fest BTW, bc last yr, it was just ridiculous..... We got 2 Greek chicken platters, 2 Diet Pepsi s in a bottle bc they don't even have fountain drinks ( I get that) but those alone were now 11.00! And then the baklava sundae was like 5.25! Up from like 3.75. So, lunch or dinner for a 'casual festival' which mind you we are happy to help raise $$ for good cause was 50.00 for 2 people! Then, the kids who performed their dances were soliciting tips to the crowds afterwards. It was a nice evening out ,but quite easily 15 dollars more than 1 or 2 years ago. The atmosphere itself was of cash culture. I have no desire whatsoever to go this yr. The atmosphere has become one that is not as humble as it was and it feels like too much of a hustle. I get this is a church fundraiser; but I honestly felt like a cattle being herded through a trough at a stall bc the event has bc far too commercialized. IT is off putting 2 me . Frankly, I think that is why often times I try to avoid church fundraisers.. On one hand I applaud their ambition; but then there comes a point by which greed starts taking hold. One has to assess which is which? I know my Pastor is excited to be going to the event himself, but with 2 kids and a wife, should he then have to spend 200 for a night out? That is my point. I believe it is valid. The pursuit of growth, and true goodness for God , the community, and foremost, the church should come first. Then, the secret sauce of profits and joy will follow naturally ! As well as lots of customers!. But, i think that many places have simply kept raising prices in an endless cycle of a dizzying breakneck pace, consumers can no longer keep Up with them; our wages dont keep up with resteraunts increases or inflation. I think that GF also needs to re re evaluate the fact that they should re source their wholesale to go boxes. There are othere suppliers available like paper boxes at chinese tk out that are presumably less toxic to the environment if purchased in bulk and in general for the resteraunt. Just a minor chg that could be made, then there r rrecyclable to go cartons. just a thought. Im trying tog gv positive...
Read moreDISAPPOINTED IN ZORBA'S! Zorba's was our favorite Greek restaurant for many years. However, we have had some bad experiences at this restaurant lately, including:
Tonight was the first time in years Iâve had a bad experience at Zorbas, and thatâs putting it nicely. Our issue was not with the waitress, but the food and then the âmanagerâ. To start the bread they brought out with the salads had a butter container with it that had very clearly been opened and you could see the marks from the serrations on a butter knife from where someone had previously used the butter. The food was appalling at best, my grandmother ordered the chicken souvlaki and the chicken was very tough and very dry. My girlfriend ordered the lamb souvlaki and the lamb was comparable to beef jerky, the vegetables that came with both of their meals were very undercooked as well. I got the lamb parmesan, the lamb tasted sour and the sauce tasted burnt like it had been sitting in a hot pot all day. We asked to speak with the manager and thatâs when the real problem started. He was very rude and defensive, the first thing he said when he got to the table was âweâve been in business for 45 years we donât serve bad foodâ then proceeded to look at my grandmother sideways when she explained to him what was wrong with the food. He kept up his very unprofessional act with asking what it was we wanted. After that I told him to have a good evening and please remove himself from our table as we prepared to leave, he then said something under his breath and unfortunately due to his mask I was not able to hear the remark he made. I will not be going back and do not recommend going here if you are used to what...
