The hype…is REAL! I was a little suspicious of the name- until I stopped by and it was explained to me that Mary Jane is a beautiful 130lb mastiff that is the owners’ service dog. I was also a little intrigued about 520 five star reviews. Well I’m not here to reinvent the wheel, just here to say DITTO to all the other reviews. The prices are extremely fair, portions generous, the owners are arguably the best part about it, but the quality of the food is just as high. If I were in the area I would be here all the time and definitely back before I left on a plane in the morning! There were a LOT of flavors to choose from (but not overwhelming) and it was so damn hard to choose flavors because they were all. So. Good. Fml but listen, the source is the secret. Amish/mennonite farmers local in Saratoga (or was it Sarasota?) with organic dairy going in the ice cream, top quality whip cream (and apparently they make chocolate whipped cream, why is this not mainstream?!?) everything came together and you really did get something special. Also, music choice was perfect. Felt so at home and welcome here. Plus, what better to support veteran-owned small businesses on Veterans Day? Thank you for serving our country and now our community with superior service and product

I had had a long hard day of work in Daytona and had a long drive back to Orlando ahead of me. I really wanted summer ice cream (my drug of choice!) to help me through! I had no idea how hard it is to find ice cream shops in Daytona! This place with the funny name was the only thing that popped up anywhere near where I was or my route out to the highway. Following my GPS I found myself turning onto a dark little side road and into a tiny plaza that looked deserted. Being a woman alone at night in an area that appeared somewhat suspect, I almost drove on. But another woman pulled up and went in so I followed. I'm so glad I did! The owner was there serving and I got to hear the whole story of this place. He wanted to bring good ice cream to the town, but also to create a community around it. So far he appears to be successful. Be aware** he does not serve his own hand made ice cream. But he searches out the best product and sells MANY flavors from multiple sources. And they are delicious! You can sample to your heart's content, but take it easy because the servings are huge! So next time you're in mainland Daytona, be sure to head a little of the beaten path and give Mary...
