Chipotle Mexican Grill — Restaurant in South Elgin

I NEVER leave bad reviews, especially about food service having worked in it for many years. But something NEEDS to be done!

This Chipotle location is so BAD. I have gone in a couple of times and each time it just gets worse! The employees are always distracted, annoyed, or put out by the costumers. I never see them “wash hands”, which is a huge Chipotle standard, just change gloves…but that uncleanliness leads into the worst part of the experience…it is SOOOO DIRTY all the time!!! And it’s not anything that needs deep cleaning, just maintenance as they prepare orders and replace food! Dirty dishes pile up on the back counter while refills sit in the same place unwrapped. The food counter that they slide down is always a mess (See attached-not rush time). This time it was soooo dirty, I left! I was disgusted because they just kept making more food and a larger mess on top of it, I did not want to feed my family food from there. Every time I leave the garbages are piled high and almost over flowing and the dining area is never clean. I will no longer go here until the conditions change. This truly is unacceptable…I’m mad I didn’t say anything while I was there, but didn’t see the manager.

There was a lot of down time, and instead of having an employ clean the bathroom…have them wipe down the main area first!

So frustrating, especially know other place would fire you for leaving a restaurant like that! This must just be an acceptable standard at this...

Eat at your own risk! Today is my second attempt to patronize a Chipotle location near my home in St. Charles, Illinois. The Chipotle located at 348 S. Randall Rd in South Elgin, Illinois should be shut down by the health department.

All the servers at the Monday 1:30 pm shift today should be fired they will not serve you until they finish their offline conversation. When they finally decide to serve you these two young women carelessly slap everything into your bowl without draining the liquid making your burrito bowl or burrito soggy and cold. Their service is rude and insulting!

The food is not keep warm, sautéed vegetables are over cooked and soggy, meat is overcooked with too much seasoning, brown and white rice is hard, beans have a crust over the top, cold burritos shells are slapped onto a dirty counter, cheese is clumped together, and lettuce dirty and rotten.

Chipotle’s Corporation headquarters should be looking into overhauling the entire restaurant and hiring new employees!!! I’m going to call the health department and contact a news agency to report the numerous violations that I as a patron cannot dismiss. I took one look at our meals and decided it was not for human consumption dumping it in the garbage with $18.30 going down the drain!

Update: still poor service and very unhygienic. A worker was cleaning the food service stainless steel stop with a wet rag, but as she squeezed the towel the towel juices flowed into the black beans. I just casually pointed that out to let her know. Got an attitude, she pretended to put them away and returned the same beans back without switching them out. I called her out on it and she walked away with an attitude. Asked for the manager, no different. No more black beans for the night. Think of dirty towel juices squeezed in for extra flavor.

Older post: I'm a huge Chipotle fan. Could eat it on the daily. But man has their staff and service and environment declined over the years. This chipotle by far the dirtiest and rudest staff. They are slow, preps never done, chips are half cooked half the time, they rush your order, let food drop into other food bins (like meat falling into the sofritas, beef mixing with chicken). Staff turnover is crazy. They never have utensils out, their sauces are always out. If they want they could get it from inside but depends on their mood. When you could see its there under the cabinet. Ive honestly just opened the cabinet and help myself. I ask for lemon or lime but no we don't have it, no we can't cut some. No apology about it.
