Atmosphere- 3 stars- this bakery is located at Millers Run just off of I-79 It stands back away from the parking lot in between Primanti Brothers and Firebirds. Walking up to it I thought it was closed because nobody was there except one employee that I could see cleaning. Went inside and found it very sterile looking. Tall ceilings and white walls and nondescript display case. Did not feel very inviting but I decided to give it a chance. It was very clean but just needs to feel more inviting.
Service- 3 stars- only saw one employee while we there. She was very quiet and didn’t really say much but did a great job making my iced caramel macchiato.
Food- 4 stars- Like I said above I got an iced caramel macchiato as well as a slice of cheesecake and a chocolate chip cookie. Cookie was ok the cheesecake was much better. They have cakes in the display and I was wanting to get a slice of the almond cake but unfortunately you have to purchase the whole cake and cannot just get a slice. This is something they should think about changing. Maybe if I tasted a slice I may want to buy...
Read moreWe love stopping by to pick up treats when in the area, and one day will have to stop and try their meals. They serve alcohol for those interested (wines).
However, we enjoy them for their baked goods. Their cupcakes, key lime pie, cheesecakes, croissants, pepperoni rolls, and almost everything else we've tried has been delicious. The staff is always friendly.
That said, we've learned two things. First, always check the screen/receipt before leaving to make sure that everything we've asked for was ordered (after getting home without it).
Second, and more importantly, always check our boxes before leaving. Today, we arrived home to find that we didn't receive one item we paid for, and that we received the tail end of another item (we bought two pieces of apple streusel - one piece was fine, one piece was miniscule and didn't look anything like the rest in the display case and must have been the very end. It barely has any...
Read moreWe visited for a late Saturday lunch, and had a BLT, grilled cheese, and kids French toast. The only positive worth mentioning was the kids French toast, which was a large portion, and served with syrup, fresh strawberries, and brown butter on the side.
The BLT was served on toasted bread, but was somehow bitter - whether it was the butter/oil used to toast the bread or the bread itself, the sandwich was inedible after a few bites, and the bitterness lingered for a while in my mouth.
Also, the BLT was made with two slices of rubbery American cheese, which was NOT disclosed on the menu, and is an allergy risk for some folks - not cool.
The grilled cheese was mostly the same. Two modest slices of bread with a couple slices of barely-melted cheese, and an overwhelming bitter flavor.
We've been to other Bartram locations before and been impressed, but we will NOT be back to any location after...
