I live in the city of Downey and am trying to visit another store in the City of Long Beach. The main reason I am going so far is the treatment, and the staff at that branch are on another level. (more professional and friendly). The biggest frustration I have experienced at this branch in the city of South Gate is the same as always: poor customer service and lack of professionalism on the part of the manager, she seemed to me to be a person who lacks a lot of education and quality of customer service, she should take a course on how to interact with other people and be more friendly. At the time of purchasing my item, I spent approximately over $400, it was a heavy item. I went to the cashier to ask for assistance so they could help me mount the item on a store cart, and there I waited for about 10 minutes finally, the person arrived, and my nephew helped him since I couldn't due to my most recent operation lift heavy items, so I went to the exit door and asked the young woman at the door to help me find someone to put the item in the truck. My only mistake was following the instructions given to me by the young woman who checked the receipts when I left the store and told me exactly where I should wait for the people who would place the item in my vehicle. I went back to the exit door twice because the time was over 20 minutes, both times the young lady at the door was friendly and called on the radio but no one paid attention to her, the third time I went over and got frustrated and told her I wanted to talk to the manager because I had been waiting too long, finally the store manager showed up, to start with she was very uneducated and lacked better customer service, I think it would be good for her to take a human relations course since I explained to her that I had been waiting for 20 minutes and they hadn't sent anyone, she told me she didn't speak Spanish, however I told her in English, then she called another person who said she was there to help me translate and they told me that the young people had arrived and they hadn't seen me, which is completely false since my nephew was there waiting for a long time, I went and asked my nephew if it was true so I could apologize to the manager but no one had arrived, another young lady appeared who I think is the manager's assistant, he tried to talk to her but no one had arrived, another young lady appeared who I think is the assistant manager, tried to talk to her but no one had arrived, she told me she didn't speak Spanish, however I told her in English, she then called another person who said she was there to help me translate and they told me that the young people had arrived and that they hadn't seen me, which is completely false since my nephew was there waiting for a long time, I went and asked my nephew if it was true so I could apologize to the manager but no one had arrived, another young woman who I believe is the assistant manager appeared, he tried to talk to her but no one had arrived, she told me she didn't speak Spanish but I told her I didn't know... to fix the problem and she told me I wasn't in the right place. I recommended that they train their employees so that everyone was on the same page since I simply followed the directions, they gave me when leaving the store. This has once again been the most unpleasant experience I have ever had at this location. I hope they can improve the staff and train them better. It was a heavy item. Read moreI’ve shopped here for 30 years, felt a special loyalty due to having worked there for 7 years as I went through schooling and was even manager there. Today , that’s all over! 3/4 of my way through my self checkout transaction, I was approached by the member service associate who told me I needed to transfer everything in my cart to a new cart. I said, “I can’t!” Can you?” He told me if I can’t transfer my merchandise than I have to get in a cashier assisted line. I told him “I know what I’m doing and I’ve been a member for 30 years.” He said the store manager is requesting that I transfer everything. No offer to help. Nobody else was transferring their merchandise. I asked, “Where is the posted policy that members who can’t transfer merchandise have to use cashier lines?” The associate says, “The manager is asking that you transfer sir!” I walked out. First, I have heart failure and rapid heartbeat if I exert myself. Having already lifted 5 cases of water into the cart, there’s no way I’m transferring it to another cart. 2nd I have my system, I know what I’m doing. Upon calling the store to speak to manager. He says, he saw that I was having difficulty scanning to ensure accuracy that I will scan everything.” This is the store manager!!!! So he’s worried that I might not scan a $20 item vs. offering assistance. I will end my 30 years of membership and loyalty. I’ve never gone to Costco to stay loyal. I said I was being singled out. Nobody else was being asked to transfer.
He was not interested j helping me but rather inconveniencing me further even though I decided to do self checkout.
For 15 minutes from 12:00-12:15 I called to try to get through to member services. The phone for member services rang more than 10 times. I hung up several times bc no one answered, when I did reach someone, I got hung up on twice.
When you shop at South Gate you put up with chaos a lot, very long cashier lines, nobody smiles and offers help. The parking lot is a complete mess. Carts have trash and diapers, and you often have to bring your own cart from the lot, and clean it out.

Read moreThis review is going to reflect my last 2 orders I made on line for SouthGate Ca. Store.
1st order was canceled. The system alowed me to order, select a time for delivery, and pay. This order was for delivery the following day. We'll to my surprise i did not receive my order. I went to the Sam's club app to find out it was canceled. No reference to why, just canceled. So after calling the South Gate Ca. store, being disconnected 3 times, I finally got though to be told " im sorry, we are short staff and did not have a delivery driver" I asked why did the system allow me to order. It should have stopped me. Well I had wait almost 1 week to have $171.00 credited back to my account. I was given the option to re-order and pay again, and pick up. NOPE, that's why I pay for Sam's Plus, to have the convince of ordering on line with delivery.
2nd order, after I got my 1st order money back. Again ordered for next day. It was supposed arrive from 7am-9am. 9am came and went. 12pm came and went. 2pm came and went. Sam's app says still processing, so i was glad it didnt get canceled again. I attempted to call the store directly around 3pm, to see if in fact it was still going to be delivered. We'll after 3 attempts and 3 disconnections, i gave up and crossed my fingers it was still coming. 5pm my order arrived, minus 1 item. Go figure. The driver was friendly and after asking what happened, he mentioned a system problem.
I am really considering getting my next membership at Costco. My renewal is coming soon. GET IT...
