The good: the size of the chicken portions are good. You get a lot of meat for the price, which is a very reasonable price. Plus, it’s juicy. Absolutely no dry chicken here. The flavor of the dipping sauce is unique compared to other hot chicken places, very sweet, almost like a honey mustard fry sauce hybrid. I would recommend giving each customer 2, not just 1, because the chicken is so large and we can assume customers are dipping both chicken and fries into the 1 and running out early.
The average: There is minimal crunch. Like really, there just isn’t any. I really want some fried crunch. The flavor / seasoning of the chicken is basically non-existent, even when ‘Hot’ is selected. There is no cinnamon-spice like Pretty Bird and there is none of the heavily seasoned Nashville flavors of Dave’s. There is essentially nothing on the outside of this chicken. It is hot, but it is not seasoned. The fries are super average. Like painfully. Idk, I’d fry them longer and season them heavier. They taste like highschool frozen fries. It’s recommended also that the employee pack some napkins in the takeout bag. There’s not really enough reason to pass on that task to the takeout diner.
The bad: guys, this is not a slider. This is a haphazardly thrown together chicken tender on a bun. You can’t just shove one of these long bois on a bun and call it a slider. This is because your tenders specifically are long and skinny. Maybe this would work if they were wider, but basically you end up with excess bun and half of all slider bites with no chicken. There was also no slaw distribution. It was served in a clump on half the bun. The interior of the restaurant is wildly bland. There was no investment into a brand identity or customer experience besides silly chicken pictures on the wall.
Ultimately I had a good experience because the chicken was hot and juicy. But it’s not the flavor blast I’m accustomed to by competitors and there’s a lot of lack of innovation going here. Dive deeper into a specialty spice rub. Give the fries some love. Give the slider an identity. Bolster the customer dining space. We really need a good local hot chicken place. I will up my review to 5 stars if you respond to me in a meaningful way and implement...
Read moreI had a great experience coming today. It was my first time I’ve seen advertisements pop-up and I would be like oh that looks delicious, but then I would forget the name of this place until I found another advertisement, but this time it was actually the Salt Lake foodie review guy which actually came to check out this place and it looked awesome. I ended up coming today with some friends we all have never tried this place before we took our time at the menu, but the one thing that really brought me in was knowing that this place also specialized in some delicious mac & cheese, which for me is kind of rare because there are restaurants That offer mac & cheese, but most of the time it’s specialized As a side, but here they made it part of the main menu which they call crazy Mac. Watching involves two nice and crispy delicious tenders with your choice of the heat level on myself went with the mild, which was a great pic. In my opinion. Once I receive my food The person who managed The store had a really welcoming vibe not to mention when we showed up there were also other people who were just arriving and once we got seated down, the lobby was practically full and we were the first to get there. Once I received my food, I was extremely satisfied with how it looked how it smelled the temperature and the consistency of the mac & cheese. I’m usually a little nervous, trying signature sauces from restaurants. What these people nailed it and the chicken tenders that were cut up or fantastic I absolutely love the mac & cheese that they serve here. I will definitely come back again. One thing I will say for the price, you definitely get what you pay for and I will say it is quite the big amount. I think next time I may order a smaller meal and make the mac & cheese as a side, but I can guarantee I look forward to being satisfied to the fullest coming here wiped out a lot of other Places out of the competition and I like supporting local businesses so this is a win-win for...
Read moreAfter receiving a prompt and kind response from the owner, I felt that I should return and I'm glad I did. I've decided to chalk my first visit up as a fluke, as my meal and the environment just didn't hit the hype I kept hearing about. Anyway, I gave it some time and came back.
This time, I ordered Combo #3, which includes the sandwich and a tender. I agree with other comments, that the massive submarine tender belongs maybe on a hotdog bun or sub sandwich, but I thought about it and figured that's part of the novelty; it's called a "giant slider". If you miss the fun in that oxymoron, you won't understand that the sandwich is meant to show off the chicken. I didn't mind tearing the tender in half and reseating it on the bun.
Nextly, whoa was the chicken flavorful. Yes, this was a completely different experience than my first. My first was with the Crazy Mac, and neither the chicken nor the Mac had flavor, not even salt. This time, it was a complete 180°. The flavors worked so well together, and the coleslaw was awesome. I may try spicier than medium, next time. One note, the breading fell off the chicken too easily - I know there are some hacks for that, but it didn't affect the taste so it didn't ruin anything for me.
Service was excellent. I had to leave quicker than expected, switching to "to-go" was easy. Though the food took long to make, it was worth it. Also, their sauce is great on the chicken and the fries. Portions were gracious enough that I didn't finish my fries.
Atmosphere was less noisy, TV was on sports but not too loud, and it was clean and inviting.
Among chicken places,...
