Two stars. The prices are exorbitant, and the quality of food was beteeen average and bad. Pancakes (12 dollars!) were terribly undercooked, almost raw dough. Egg omelet was the same you could get anywhere else, except for the price - 13 (previous version incorrectly had 18 dollars) dollars per omelett is really above average. Samshuka was ok, ketchup makes everything perfect. Capuccino was worst, actively damaging my taste buds. Sturbucks serves better coffee. Overall an extremely hyped place with rather mediocre food.
Edit: I'd like to apologize for earlier typo, omelett is 13 dollars, not 18 as stated in the original version. The rest of my review stands. In particular, pancakes were raw (my daughter couldn't eat them even when soaked wet in syrup, and that means something). I don't know how many times the espresso machine was dialed, but I do not consume dialed espresso machines. I don't consume latter art (which was your run-of-the-mill heart, nothing to write home about). I consume drink. And the drink was plenty awful, the 3 of us...
Read moreI feel like in this climate of getting back from covid we shouldn't give places less than 3 unless you find a roach or hair in your food or something unjust was done, everyone is doing their best to get out of the year but off of this Sunday morning i would say their rate is definitely higher than the meal I received.
I didnt even take pictures of my 2 eggs over medium (how can one mess that up) because the first time 2 scrambled eggs came out, they were gracious when i told them it wasn't what I ordered, so then I had to eat bacon and fries (which were cold when my food was delivered because I was too hungry to wait) and when they brought out my eggs for the second time, one egg was complete fried and the other was barely over medium. We waited half hour to get served and so to get an order so wrong after that amount of time I would think the would be on another level. It just wasn't and it didn't match up with the prices.
The coffee was my favorite part of the situation.
My friend had the Jackie and Son's scramble and he liked it but also said it was nothing to write home about. The photo was...
Read moreThey go above and beyond. This is the motivation behind my review. I rarely write reviews (good or bad) but it's absolutely warranted in this case. I've ordered from Jackie and Son at least a dozen or more times in the last year and the food is consistently good but it's the service that deserves 5 stars. No matter how good a restaurant is, there will always be mistakes (hello, human error) but it's how a restaurant resolves those mistakes that matters most to me. There was a minor mix up with my order but it was handled with professionalism, empathy and kindness. I believe I dealt with Jackie's son (Jake?), and if so, thank you so much for your attention, time and quick thinking to resolve the issue with my order. It's refreshing to see this small, family-owned business care about their customers in the way that they do. And it's nice to see the son so committed to the family business. I ordered takeout again today: the avocado toast with halloumi cheese and eggs over medium, plus the truffle home fries....
