I unfortunately never got to try the food, so I can't comment on its quality. However, I had a terrible experience with this store over the weekend. On Saturday night I called and placed an order for delivery. The gentleman took my order and my address and told me it would be delivered in about 45 minutes.
About 45 minutes later I get a call from the driver he says I'm too far away and that he's turning around (I live 12 minutes away from the store according to Google Maps). He says they normally only deliver within a couple miles and that I was further than that. I said that I gave my address and wasn't told there was any problem. The driver said that if I wanted my food delivered it would cost extra, about $3 to $5 extra. It sounded like he made that up on the spot so I asked what the exact amount was, and whether that's a real policy because it wasn't on their website or the menu that I could see, and they certainly didn't tell me anything about that when I ordered. He said it would be $5 and that the person who took my order made a mistake. I told him I wasn't going to pay anything and called the store.
I spoke to the person who originally took my order and he said he made a mistake and it's up to the driver if he'll deliver my food or not. I couldn't believe it so I asked to speak to the manager. He wasn't there but they have me his phone number.
I called the manager and he apologized but said that they normally don't deliver that far (again, I'm 12 minutes away). I told him I understood that and I'll know that for next time, but I want my food tonight. After asking how much my order cost (around $37), he said he'd see what he could do and would call me back. Around 10-15 minutes later he called back and apologized again and said that he was going in to the store to see what was going on. He said, that he would see if they get any orders in my direction and then call and see if I still wanted the food.
I was furious and asked if he still expected me to pay full price for this food that I was maybe going to get. He said of course I would have to. I asked him for the owner's contact information and he refused to give it to me. I got off the phone with the promise to maybe get my food before they closed. They closed at 2am and I never heard from him and never got my food.
I called Cluck-U's corporate phone number on Monday and the woman I spoke to was very apologetic and surprised by what I told her. Since it was a privately owned store there was nothing she could do but give me the owner's contact information.
I called him and explained what happened to him. He apologized and said that it made him very mad. He confirmed the policy of charging extra for delivery outside of a couple miles and said it should be only $2-$3 extra. He asked me what I would like him to do about the situation. I said it was up to him and I was just shocked at how poor the customer service was and wanted to let him know how unhappy I was with it. He said that he would leave a note and that next time it would only be a $2 extra charge for delivery to me.
Unless I knew that there were some serious changes though, there won't be a next time. I would love to actually try the food at Cluck-U, but it would have to be from a different store. I don't see myself going back to...

Read moreI have been coming here for well over a decade on & off. The food is decent, however, I had a bizarre experience here the other day that was a bit offputting. I ordered my food, the guy processed my transaction via debit card, & I went outside to wait for my order. I returned 10 minutes later & noticed that a woman was also behind the counter with the man. She confirmed what I ordered being that my food was ready, and hesitantly handed me my chicken sandwhich, while asking if I paid already. No problem, so I responded yes, and she still looked doubtful. All the while, the man who processed my order was taking another order over the phone. I gave him this knowing look, being that he should know I paid for my order already, but when she looked at him to confirm this non verbally, he looked confused and distracted not uttering a word, not vouching for me. This further made her think I did not pay for my order. Finally, I asked them.."Do you want to see my receipt?" He said "No, It's ok." And as I'm walking out, she asks him "Did she pay? Did she pay" I turned around and asked frustratingly "Is there a problem? What's the issue?" The woman was being overtly dramatic while the man was acting like he was in LaLa land. Then she just said "no problem". No apology or nothing for the misunderstanding that was all her fault. Why in the heck would I be so bold to walk in there, place an order, and steal a chicken sandwhich? Once I initially assured her I paid already, that should have been...
