Inkosi Cafe — Restaurant in South Orange

Nice place to have lunch. I dined in during my lunch and ordered the salmon salad and buffalo wings. No lie it took close to 25 minutes before the food came out. I was infuriated and wondered why a salad was taking so long. When my food came out it was a salmon burger and fries on my plate lol, no wonder. I should've know because while taking my order I was asked if I wanted fries, I did thought to myself why would a salad come with fries but maybe it was the wings, anyway I didn't ask. They did offer to take the burger back and do my correct order but I decline because I would've went over my lunch hour and I did not want to wait any longer so I kept the burger. To my surprise it tasted really good. The wings however I was not a fan. I was charged to eat inside the café like :0 smh

The next time I ordered take out during lunch, I was not about to be charged extra to eat in the café, again. This time I ordered the crab cake burger with the sweet potato fries. I was very excited to try it. OMG sadly it was awful. I should've known because after I opened the box the smell made me nauseous and the crab cake was just so soggy and just mushy, I didn't think much of it for I was hungry lol. The fries looked like there were fried and became soggy and fried again, it was awful. I couldn't finish everything and I ate like 2 pieces of fries, I was soo nauseous it was bad. I didn't think I would've been able to go drive back to work. At first I thought maybe because I ate too fast and that made me nauseous, but my dad had the same burger and it made him nauseous as well. Maybe it was a bad day for them. What a gem of a place. I stumbled across this wonderful restaurant while searching for a really good fish sandwich…not some sort of pieced together, cardboard sold at fast food places. I was beyond thrilled to find them still open last evening when I realized online, they were about to close. My husband and I rushed over and not only did the co-owner fix everything fresh, the ambiance of the cozy, eatery was impressive. The music is relaxing, the decor artistic, the owners warm and welcoming, but most of all…the environment is spotless.

Before retiring, I taught Food Safety and Sanitation, so I am very selective where I eat. The owners here have a right to be proud of the way they maintain their business. Now, about the food. My husband and I both opted for their “Crispy Fish Sandwich and Seasoned Fries. Both selections were fresh, seasoned flawlessly and delicious. I am excited to go back and try more off their menu. The owners are so accommodating and inviting. The food is fresh, everything is made to order and delicious. We were a party of 7 we ordered chicken tenders and fries for my granddaughters they loved them. We also order the ginger chicken wrap, my brother really enjoyed it and said the strap was very tasty. My mother and I got the salmon burger with the special sauce which is so delicious, nice portion of salmon and the bread is so soft and tasty. My son got the delicious juicy burger, it was huge and my daughter in law got the crunchy, juicy fish sandwich. All orders come with sweet potato fries or seasoned fries both are great choices.
