So this place was super slow for not being busy at all. Too many people at the bar walking in and out of the back touching things without washing their hands. My wife ordered an elote and it never came. The horchata seemed like mud water but tasted ok. The chicharrón con yuca was priced at $9 and barley had any chicharrón. It looked like they took a small one and broke it into 8 tiny hard pieces. When I asked the guy about it, he said 'that's it' Overall, it might be a good place, but I don't think I will be going again. The pupusas were pretty dry as well.
Update: so the owner writes 'sorry we are not fast food' yes, that is true. I wasn't expecting fast food, if I did I obviously would have gone somewhere else. However, it's a bad look when you are chatting it up with the 6 people at the bar and taking your time to get to us. Thank you for addressing the hand sanitizer issue, that is reassuring. Would you like to address how my wife's elote was forgotten? No? Ok, I get it. Maybe you should consider not being condescending on your responses back to paying customers. Also, Bone dry pupusas may be the 'best' for you, but not for all. So I wouldn't assume that....
Read moreHands down worst pupuseria I've been to. Took 10 min to get our order ordered and am additional 39 min to have it on the table. One shouldn't have to wait about 40 min for horchata, nonetheless water. Bad service. It's obvious they'd rather serve their drunk customers and with no AC, I highly recommend not going there anytime soon. Poor lighting+poor service+poor food= headache+possible food poisoning. I am astonished this restaurant has 4.5 stars when in reality it is much sub par. The pupusas were medicore and at its best it deserves only 2 stars. The only way this restaurant were to have 4.5 stars were if half these...
Read moreI don’t normally give 5 star ratings but feel this place deserves it. It’s a hidden gem in downtown South San Francisco that serves authentic, unpretentious Salvadoran (and Mexican) food. The pupusas (we had the ones with pork, cheese and beans) were absolutely delicious and inexpensive. They go well with the house coleslaw and the mild chili sauce. The Salvadoran enchiladas (more like tacos) were very good as well. The best part of this restaurant is the staff, who are warm, generous, and kind. They really make you feel this is neighborhood place. We will definitely return to sample more items...
