So far the best Vietnamese restaurant In the san bruno and ssf area. I am still looking for better so please give suggestions if anyone has a place in mind. Please don't tell Ben Tre.
Ordered the vermicelli with pork and egg roll. When the dish came it looked like there was very little meat but it turned out to be enough. Egg roll was very good. Crispy even after being soaked in the sauce for some time. Will go back for the egg rolls. Pork flavor was ok. Would prefer to have a bit more lemongrass flavor. Pretty much only lettuce. Barely any cucumber or bean sprouts in the bowl. Their nouc cham ( fish sauce dipping sauce) is flavorful.
Husband ordered a catfish clay pot. Very flavorful. Sauce seems like a sweet soy/ fish sauce combo. It was good but I prefer to get something else next time.
Place is small and dirty. Tables were sticky. Staff was kind. Their hot sauce seems homemade but I am not too sure. It has a good flavor to it and not very sour like other...
Read moreLittle hole in the wall Pho/noodle/dumpling place. I had the #32 (Pork noodle/won ton soup). It was delicious. Here, they cook your meat (mine was pork) portion separate, so you can add it to the soup and then eat or eat separate from the soup. Plenty of noodles and 3-won ton dumplings (wished I had a few more - these were excellent too). The broth was tasty (not salty or watery). It's a good sized bowl for $9.25. Tea is extra. I was early (1045am) so service was attentive/good. Their chilli-paste (on the table) was habit-forming. Hot, spicy and very tasty. I used it liberally with the meat and the soup. This place is worth seeking out. Parking is limited. Seating is more than adequate. I'm in this area a lot and I will return. Serving sizes are actually dinner-like. One of the best pho/noodle and won ton places I...
Read moreRead moreI ordered delivery and honestly. This is probably the most bland pho I've had. Soup on its own? It's okay, but it's more sweet than any of the spices that it's supposed to have. Not as beefy either. Very thin. Once I mixed the noodles and meat? Flavor gone. The noodles soak up the broth but not the flavor. The meat wasn't bad either. I'm at a loss. $20+ for a bowl of flavorless noodles. Maybe it was a watered down batch? I don't know, its Friday night and I'm looking at other food because I can't finish this. Not satisfied. Not demure. TLDR Special pho combo - Little to no flavor, thin soup, meat was okay, brisket was the only thing that had flavor, noodles on point, fresh herbs, limes lemons(they had lemon) This was La Croix of pho Sadly disappointed, I was expecting more after reading...
