I’ve been there, and I large group of seasoned, educated foodies, and we have been let down by numerous amount of times. An evening included six guest, all happy and joyful, that love food. Not cooked well, not seasoned well that was supposed to be exquisite food failed us to immensely..
Another day, six months from previous experience three of us went to this Sunday buffet. It’s easier to say what was good versus what wasn’t. The chocolate Lara cake, and only the sausage gravy excelled out of the entire Buffet. Many workers standing around, not wiping up the soil trays around the Buffay.
What example from when they told me on the phone waffles made to order, I was ecstatic I got there. It was a motel six set up that had pancake batter all over the table, looking like they had open it up for a class a first graders to play. Should I go on question I sincerely want our local businesses to win but when there’s people standing around that are employees and cannot simply wipe up and clean up and make things look better than what they are you really have no hope .
Lemon pepper chicken even for somebody that I absolutely love salt piles on salt. Could not eat it for the pilot of lemon pepper saw that drowned in the dry little poor fish that was left in the warmer.. . The vegetables is green beans in a few red and gold tomatoes. Looked to the father of Brown but you would think were rotten and you would not put on your plate..
The chicken dish looked so extremely dry. I would not even put it on my plate..
The salads if there was any in the bowls that you could put on your plate at 12:30 in the afternoon would probably be good. But when they’re empty, what do you have to go on? The salad dressings looked like a light pink color that could be easily confused with somebody with the stomach flu
The eggs Benedict were such a huge disappointment I don’t even know how I can describe it. Anybody that knows eggs Benedict would not have them on a Buffay unless they had cooked them absolutely perfect and had the heat low. These were a disaster and an insult to what an eggs Benedict should be for $40.00 I’m not one to give up thinking that it may have just been a bad day or a day where employees didn’t care. I will narrow down versus going through each dish of what things were actually good, the sausage gravy was by far the most excellent I’ve ever had in my life not the biscuits just the sausage gravy and then the chocolate layer cake. However, in today’s world I cannot afford to pay for a $30 buffet where I only liked the sausage gravy and the chocolate layer cake. So disappointing for a person that’s usually pretty darn easy to please...
Read moreThis place calls itself a Chophouse yet I was served the worst steak experience I've had in years... twice.
I ordered the Iowa Premium NY Strip, medium rare. I was told by the waitress this cut falls just under there Prime steak cuts and above Choice cuts. I ordered this to balance the high cost of a side of pan seared scallops. What I received was a thin, pale, unseared steak at medium well to well done. There were grill marks on top but not the bottom. It was chewy and hard to cut, fat cap unrendered.. My waitress stopped and as I pointed it out she immediately agreed and took it back. She offered another and it would be out quickly. The second steak arrived looking as pale as the previous. No searing, and light grill marks. It was cooked medium or above medium rare. Due to lack of any pink or or blood It appears this was a frozen steak, perhaps microwaved and grilled marked. Also chewy, not easy to cut, the fat cap was completely unrendered. I dont believe the grill is hot enough. I also had the seared scallops which I must say were delicious despite the steak fail.
Wife had the prime steak Filet which was cooked the medium proper as she requested. Slightly more sear. The waitress asked how it was and told me, this is prime and it is why my steak wasn't as good.
My wife ordered a mixed drink and made sure to ask if the bar tender knew how. It was not correct and sent back. My beer was brought overfilled and spilled onto the table. There was no cocktail napkins to soak up the mess.
The butterscotch creme brule was also delicious and served with candied spoons.
It was a special occasion, made not so special. We were complimented a $10 desert and nothing more. The steak went home in a box but should have been removed from the bill. Nearly $200 on a meal for two. We could have done family groceries for 2 weeks on that dime. The staff all seem new, and amateur's. I feel we paid for the Kahills name and a view of the river. Theres other reviews like mine. Owners respond with only an apology but should be reaching out. This was our second visit based on a much better experience last year. We will not...
Read moreThis review is for a catered dinner banquet not the restaurant itself. The main course was boneless chicken breast with a drummie attached to it, roasted potatoes with zucchini and broccoli. The salad was a spring mix with 1 paper thin slice of cucumber, a thin slice of red onion, 1/2 cherry tomato and maybe 1 teaspoon of dressing. I am not exaggerating. My potatoes were undercooked, difficult to cut into, the broccoli floret section was burnt a little bit the stalk was very tough, the zucchini was good but there was maybe 3 very thin slices of that. So let's talk about the chicken, I have never seen a boneless chicken breast with a drummie attached to it. It had an reddish-orange sauce on top with no real flavor I could pick up on. The chicken was not seasoned at all. It was edible as in not too dry, but definitely had to add a generous amount of salt and pepper. The dinner rolls were alright but a little too hard and chewy. Dessert was one cupcake per guest, they were average, similar to what you could buy maybe in the bakery section of Walmart. Beverages consisted only of water, decent tasting water, but just water. Not even a lemon slice. I guess my real issue is that this banquet was for high school students who received academic awards and parents who wished to attend had to pay $25 per person, I had to pay $100 for 4 of us, the student's dinners were paid for luckily. We are fortunate we could afford it but there have been many times in my life I would not have been able to and I know I'm not alone. If the food was even remotely good I wouldn't have bothered to review it but we were given food that reminded me of a hospital patient meal tray who is on a bland, sodium restricted diet. Come on Marriott/Kahill's or whoever is responsible for the food, you can do better, at least I would...
