This is a good monument to the horrible tragedy of United flight 232. Unfortunately the tragedy was broadcast live on television in 1989 and I witnessed it as it happened. I felt I needed to visit the sight and it was adequate. However, I was disappointed I was not able to see a list of those that perished in the catastrophe. I understand this monument is dedicated to that that helped save lives and rescue those that were hurt. But, I was still disappointed. I looked throughout the grounds and could not find a plaque listing the victims names. I hope I can eventually find that or hope it will be added someday to this monument. Read moreThis monument to United Flight 232 is actually very nice, and it's well taken care of. Being near the river is nice, and it's a bit isolated, which is great.
I do think it should have been closer to the airport. It's about 15 minutes away from where the actual crash happened.
The memorial doesn't really talk or mention the people who perished. It does mention a rescuer and the people of the area. Kind of strange nothing about the passengers, except a three year old boy.

This memorial is a beautiful location on the Missouri River. Located near the Lewis & Clark Center, opposite the river from Marina Inn & Kahill's restaurant.
