Like others have mentioned, the service is very friendly, but slow.
The food, however, is pretty bad and expensive. I was pretty shocked when I saw the menu prices, and I consider their portions the same as any other place I’ve been to. The chips and salsa are also not great. Not the worst, but be prepared to be pretty much be eating spicy pizza sauce….
They want $13 for a basic cheese crisp?!?! Granted, that was actually the best thing we ordered that night. $13 is wild, but ok.
Tamales are dry and the sauce they use on top is bizarre compared to anything I’ve ever had in Arizona. No chili or other distinct flavor, just essentially chicken gravy of some sort.
I was so excited about the beans, because I am pretty certain I tasted lard in them… but the lard was unfortunately stale/rancid… leaving that “old seed” or “stale nut/expired oil” bitter flavor at the end.
Rice was standard.
Fajitas are 95% onions and peppers. So, if you like mostly veggies with practically zero meat for your fajitas… go for it. And you get one massive tortilla instead of individual tortillas if you order flour. Pretty bland, too.
Barbacoa estilo Sonora was actually flavorful. Overpriced, but tasty. I had no idea what to expect due to no info on the menu, but I think it was good. No sauce, just cinnamon/holiday’ish spiced beef/pork.
Cocktails/margaritas are standardly unimpressive, but the beer was super cold and served in frozen mugs. The sodas aren’t a safe choice either - they were completely flat, which is why I switched to beer..
Overall: service is friendly but slow; food and drinks are expensive and really bad; The best things you’ll get are an expensive cheese crisp and a beer. Absolutely cannot recommend this place.
Parking was pretty good,...
Read moreWhen we went in we told the lady's at the counter if they had a bar to have a couple drinks to kill time for an appointment nearby. They said no but we can sit to have our drinks without a problem. We ordered a special .70 cent Margarita. They brought out chips and salsa and when the waitress brought our margaritas and asked for our order we told her we told the lady/owner we were just having 2 drinks and then said we were not allowed to have the special since we were not ordering food and grabbed them from our table. We said that's fine bring us a reg size one at full price, we didn't care of the size or price. When we were leaving she said to go to counter to pay. The counter lady asked for our ticket and we said she told us to go pay w/o ticket. Well now she had to go find waitress to get our ticket and then charged us for our chips. The chips were more expensive than the 2 margaritas and we said we didn't order them and were just brought to us. Well because we used up a table and they lost revenue, mind you it was dead with no one waiting for a table, and didnt order food they had to charge us the chips. The waitress or the owner could have said this it earlier in our interaction rather than wait till we had some. They were so salty we only had maybe 2 chips each and we paid almost a meals equivalent in price for them. The whole interaction was rude with waitress and the poor girl at register was only doing her job and put in an awkward position. Not cool to bring you stuff and not tell you we are charging you more than the price of the 2 margaritas...
Read moreI usually don’t leave reviews, but it either has to very good or not so great. Today was a not so great.
I brought my family for lunch, on recommendations from other people and reviews for the place.
We ordered guacamole, it arrived at room temp, the chips were stale, and had few areas brown from it oxidizing in the window. I usually don’t complain but this time I did. The server took it away, few moments later a gentleman came out with a new one. It was cold this time but was lacking flavor again.
We ordered breaded shrimp meal for my son, mole for my daughters and my wife got enchiladas. I ordered the milanesa plate.
It was all terrible. The beans had a burnt flavor, the milanesa taste like it was cooked with old oil on the flattop grill, rice was a bit old, on all the dishes.
The breaded shrimp tasted like old shrimp, the mole, although i didn’t taste it, my daughters said was flavorless with hints of sweetness of chocolate. The enchiladas also lacked flavor. The only things that were good, was the lemonade and water.
We all had upset stomachs after eating here. My sons was complaining about his stomach before we even left.
This restaurant needs to take more pride in the food they serve, including the canned tomato sauce with oregano and some chilis they serve as salsa.
Service was...
