I'm late posting this because I just now gained the courage to speak up after staying silent for so long. I worked for this company around 2014-2015, when Mac Trout was the general Manager and Nick was the DM (or regional? I don't remember exactly what his position was, just that he oversaw multiple stores). The employees here are severely mistreated and disrespected up to a legal scale. I was hired on as a regular foodrunner/expo, and was eventually promoted to manager. I was fired just a day after contacting Nick and talking to him about what I was personally going through at the hands of the company. After six months of working as a manager, I'd still received no pay raise despite my promotion and was working minimum wage with a truckload of extra responsibilities and management duties. I brought this up to my manager Mac multiple separate times, in each case he told me I should "just be grateful I got a new shirt". He eventually sat me down to tell me that I would not be receiving a raise at all, because I'd sat and ate lunch with a friend for 10 minutes (this was allowed as a manager) during a lunch rush. The scenario he'd brought up was one in which another manager, Lindsay, gave me verbal permission to have lunch with my friend and continuously assured me they "could handle things". She took a photo of me with my friend and sent it to my boss with malicious intent, without telling him that she was the one who told me I could eat. Lindsay was also present for the sit-down in which he told me I would not be receiving a raise. I sucked this up, because I was young and desperate to just have a job to pay my bills, but things after this only took a turn for the worse. The manager's tops were quarter-button ups, and I'm not a very heavy chested woman, so I didn't button every single button up to my neck, ever. Maybe left one or two unbuttoned because I felt like I looked weird with all of them fastened. No employee was buttoning them up all the way; not the men, women, or anyone. You could not see my cleavage, just a peek of my neck, and that was it. Multiple times in private settings, Mac Trout would make inappropriate comments on my breasts when nobody else was around. Comments like "You need to button your shirt all the way up, someone might get the wrong idea." The office in the back of the restaurant is very dark and cramped, and I remember vividly one time (I had to seat myself on top of the safe while Mac was showing me how to do invoices on the computer, it was the only place I could sit where I wouldn't be smushed up against him), he told me "We have to get you some different shirts. Your chest is so distracting". Mind you, I was 18 at the time. This grown man was in his 30's and had a pregnant wife. I was too shocked to say anything at the time and felt immediately terrified being in a cramped, dark place with a much older man who made comments about my breasts. There are so many things I could say about this place, I just hope my story keeps an innocent girl from making the same mistake that I did by getting hired there. I brought up Nick at the beginning of my review because he is the manager I approached about my issues- he'd made it clear that if any of the managers needed anything, we could contact him. I brought up the issue of my wages and the sexual harassment. I was brushed off, given excuses, and the very next day I was fired. I hope to God these terrible men no longer work for this company because the environment there was toxic enough without them making...
Read moreFirst let me say this location has always been one of my fav spots, never had an issue. The only reason they're getting 3 stars (now updated to 1 since I've received ZERO feedback) : Yesterday was different thanks to one young lady who was not wearing her mask ringing me up (and others) along with preparing my food. Every one else had theirs on. I'm immune compromised and it is important that I see any and everyone working in a restaurant during a pandemic, to have them on to even get my business. I would've complained right then but I was having a bad enough day and didn't feel like the confrontation. I've contacted headquarters to inform. I know some are over the masks etc, but I've lost family and friends to this. A lot of us take it seriously. I'm also a service worker that does everything in my power to keep everyone safe including myself. I get unmasked rude ppl in my stores daily, giving me a hard time about following the rules. I have to say something about this bc it could save a life. That young lady was either being sneaky with it or the MOD doesn't care, which I doubt due to everyone having one on except her. After she saw me taking her picture, she put it back on.
Update: Changing my rating to 1 star since corporate and everyone I've reached out to doesn't care enough to respond. That alone takes away...
Read moreLocation has limited hours due to staffing. Got there at 2:10 pm with a close sign of 4 pm. Crew was already in closing mode. All the teas were being drained with 2 hours to go until close. Couldn’t even get a refill. Being the only customers in restaurant the food still took almost 15 minutes to get to table(only 2 sandwiches and a salad). Definitely not Newk’s standards for service. They were out of Newk’s signature Pimento Cheese so we couldn’t get it on one of our sandwiches. When we travel through Southaven again we will definitely find an alternate location for lunch. Big disappointment for a $52 check
Followup 5/23. After posting this, the Social Media people responded and asked me to give them feedback. Went to their site, filled out their survey and site wouldn’t submit. Total waste of time. I then went to corporate website to contact them and leave a message about this visit. Absolutely no reply back from them or any senior operations management. Wow. A great company that is already...
