The Bakery of Southbury — Restaurant in Southbury

I live over an hour away from The Bakery of Southbury, so it's always a treat when my travels take me nearby and I can stop. When I had family living in town, I enjoyed their tasty treats on a regular basis. Now, years later, it's nice to see the same quality and selection in their flaky pastries, light donuts, and hearty breads and coffee cakes. They serve up everything with a smile and a hello that's just as sweet as the powder sugar toppings. It's a testament to their legacy in Southbury that even today, in COVID times, there's a line at the door on Sunday morning -- with a Dunkin right next door, too! What's the best? Hard to say, but their Boston Creme donut has a layer of rich chocolate icing that some might say is too much, bit I say just right. And they still fry or cook in oil that doesn't leave that bad flavor when you're done (Dunkin' fans, you know what I'm talking about). Usually this is our go to bakery for birthday cakes and event cakes . Our favorite go to is typically vanilla with whip cream and pudding filling with fruit inside. I decided to come here for my sons first birthday cake and I requested that we did “dancing fruit” aka Hey bear youtube baby sensory cake with chocolate mouse flavor. Not only was it delicious but it was absolutely adorable and beautiful!! Words can not describe how happy and excited everyone was with this cake including my 1year old son. We just had a small wedding for my daughter and her now husband and immediate family we had a special cake made up and everybody said that the cake was amazing taste was exactly what my daughter wanted and it was as fresh and moist as could have been it was professional made the decoration on top of the cake was exactly what we had asked for all of this was done over the phone we will be back for all our holidays and special occasions and of course to pick up some goodies...
