Golden Corral Favorites — Restaurant in Southern Pines

We decided to try this place after hearing some positive feedback. We chose a night that we knew we wouldn’t be home to cook. Normally I don’t do reviews because I don’t find it necessary to put my opinion out there, but this was such a disappointing and frustrating experience. First know that I am respectful and understanding of new businesses and working out “kinks”….out of my family of 6, only my 8 year old ate her dinner but was left hungry (which is almost impossible as she normally gets full off two bites) due to the lack of a portion even for a child. They were out of what is supposed to be a star menu item (it was not even 7pm) so because I have restrictions, I chose not to eat. The statement/excuse made was “it’s cooked for 12 hours so we can’t just whip it up”, mind you, nothing negative was said when told they were out. The meal for 5 people was $75. I waited behind one car in line at the window for over 30 minutes. The explanation I received from what I presume was a manager was “Home-cooking takes awhile”. Sir, I’m aware of this as I most often cook large, time consuming meals at home. I responded with “I don’t mind waiting”. Giving it a chance since it’s new. The sandwich my oldest daughter received was falling through the wrapper and needed to be wrapped in napkins, they didn’t include my husbands side to his meatloaf (which after one bite was thrown away), my sons meal which was ONLY meatloaf, was not correct and did not include the extra piece that I paid for, and my other daughters meal was cold and undesirable. This is not home-cooked, it’s frozen food with sloppy presentation. For the $, I was surprised/frustrated, and believe me, for good meals understand I have no issue paying higher prices. To top the evening off, my entire family ate cereal as a replacement for dinner, and there is NO WAY TO GET A PHONE NUMBER for this business. This is only my experience and opinion. Will definitely order from here again! Ordered the meatloaf sandwich with the gravy on the side for dipping. It was intimidating as it was humongous! I thought 1/2 lb of meatloaf was big - and it is! I could eat only half and I'm not mad that I have a snack or second meal waiting. What I didn't know is how much I would love this huge sandwich! Tender and tasty meatloaf. No dry, sandy textured loaf that send you searching for your drink here. And the bites that include the top of the loaf with its glaze are phenomenal!

The potato wedges were a general fail for me. They weren't BAD - they just weren't GOOD. Disappointing since I was looking forward to them. They were just a tad undercooked which, for me, is a no. And they had no flavor. No seasoning, no salt, no nothing. If I had received the Comeback Sauce I ordered, it might not have been so bad - the added flavor would have been welcome. As it was, I resorted to seasoning with fry season and salt and a couple of minutes in the air fryer and they were fine. Next time I'll order the green beans or mac and cheese.

When I tell you, This is the place to be❤️I truly felt welcomed entering in, This was my first time trying Homeward Kitchen, and it was Finger Lickin Goodt,🤪. I ordered the Fried Fish which was piping Hot and Fresh, and my Husband ordered the Fried Chicken which he said was juicy and delicious 😋. If you hadn’t tried they strawberry 🍓 Lemonade you definitely missing out straight 🔥. They honey 🍯 butter 🧈 yeast rolls 🔥. Mr. Ford, you have to meet him his personality is Above Beyond Expectations. I tell you what this place welcomes you with open arms 🤗 and I love that. I went to wash my hands before I ate, bathrooms were extremely clean. Sanitation Score here is 100. Babe you definitely will have my business if you continue to stay this way. If you haven’t tried Homeward Kitchen. I don’t know 🤷🏽‍♀️ what you waiting on, try it for yourself and you will see♥️.
